Hey Pisgah,
I believe you and I have talked on here before about Pisgah b-ball. I used to help coach at SM so I am familiar with the Black Bears from a while back. I was reminiscing the other day and had a question I thought you may know the answer.

The Piegan team that won the state title about 2006 went undefeated for much of the next year. Do you remember who ended their streak? I know I saw them play a good Brevard team in the Conference Tourney finals and I thought Brevard won. But I k ow for a fact Shelby beat Pisgah in the playoffs that year about 3rd round. So was it Brevard or Shelby? Or am I losing it altogether.

Thanks. Sorry if this is a sore spot...haha

Very sore spot LOL even after this much time. We were 29-0 and won state in 05 then didn’t lost until the conference championship to brevard the next year. It was if I’m not mistaken 51 games straight and in 04 they only lost 2. Awesome run we had. That brevard game we were down most of the game and took the lead late and up 2 with a few seconds Zach Jaynes fouled Aaron baptist on a 3 he hit all 3 and we got the ball to Jake Robinson who hit a half court shot but it was blown dead because brevard a coach called a TO with two refs believing ball was in play. It sucked! Then we played Shelby third round and lost again

And I’m just playing with you. I can talk about that team any day they were unreal

I’m not sure why I thought about but I seemed to remember Brevard winning that game. Baptist was a heckuva a player. They had a big lanky dude and an athletic Pf too. Think the PF went pretty decent level to play football.

That Pisgah team was loaded. I saw them the first time in the Regional finals against Cummings...who I believe had Dwight Jones at the time. Jake hit a bomb at halftime and Pisgah had a light skinned dude that played real well in first half. That was the year they won it. My dad and I were impressed by he crowd support. Then I got to experience it first hand over the next few years. Good times. Jake is still one of my favorite Catamounts

I saw Dwight Jones play high school ball several times. He was a man among boys when I saw him play. Was all state in both football and basketball. Had a chance to play in the NFL. He just didn't want to worknforward it. OFC

Yep Frankie waters he was an athletic freak. And yeah that Pisgah team was loaded. 4 of the 5 starters on the state team went to college and were starters. That Cummings team was awesome and that game was so fun. That was the state championship for sure that team we played next week wouldnt of finished 3rd in our conference that year. And yes our crowd was one of a kind
