PPMS Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis is what I've got. How did Medic give it to me you ask? About a year ago I became ill and the local docs in Waterloo/Cedar Falls said they've done all they could for me and thanks to decent insurance (not ACA) I was given the option to choose between Iowa City or Rochester. I've been to the hell-hole of the hawx many times, the mileage is about the same so, uh yeah. I'll take Mayo, thank you very much. (But what about Medic and bullmarket? I'm getting to that)

About six months ago I finally spoke to Medic about my condition & symptoms, remembering that he had basically saved Mrs. bull's wife's life a few years back from a nasty post-op infection and, based on that I spoke with him at length. He recommended I get the docs @ Mayo to refer a Neurologist (which they did) and investigate a condition known as cauda equina BUT not only did the first guy rule out Medic's idea, after 2 more MRI's and a 'spinal tap', now suddenly I'm told I have MS. This was a sudden shock of course.

In Medic's defense he was doing this all gratis & by phone and all of the above is my feeble attempt to make "lemonade out of lemons". I suppose you get what you pay for...

Man, that's a big drag. I've got nothing except do what the doctor says and we'll throw some prayers up for ya.

I thought you were going to bring up herpes. Again. No seriously, you can only get it once. That's the badass thing about herpes.

I told you to stop being a closet Hawkeye fan. That **** catches up you know. Hawkeyes are known to cause diseases of the nervous system and well as heart failure, brain failure, and prolapsed rectums. Stay the hell away for crying out loud. If you can't keep your eyes from wandering to that ***** that is the Hawkeyes, I'm ordering a move out of state and frontal lobotomy done with one of the small folding military shovels and some dull garden clippers.

Oh and just a couple of house cleaning facts about that PPMS. You'll become a raging liberal. That's the "progressive" part. And you better be grateful that you have multiple sclerosis. Some folks only get one.

OK. Now I'm done you ungrateful big jerk.

It's gonna be ok everyone; I'm gonna get one of those yellow "LIVE STRONG" wristbands...

We're pulling for you G-man. Be glad that you live in 2015, and not 1915 when these same diseases were around and it was a complete mystery with no treatment. Although not of the PPMS or MS variety, neurological disorders are no stranger to my family. My two adult sons can no longer attend OU games with me because they cannot walk well or climb steps. Yet they have adapted and live otherwise normal and happy lives. I know you will still be the same upbeat Gary we all know and love.

Thanks to all for your kind thoughts except for you Medic ! (You tried but we couldn't pull it off)
I blame myself for not being witty enough to compose a better laugh at my expense...

It's not so bad folks. PPMS is no death sentence so you're stuck with me for the foreseeable future.
To all with the disease I guess humor is my coping mechanism; I apologize if I overstepped any problems of others. Medic and I were never upset with each other, the big schmuck...

Hahahahahahaha. G Man, you keep your spirits up. At least you don't have doctors barking up the wrong tree still (inside pun). You have plenty of great quality of life ahead of you bro. I know you'll continue living well. You've got some answers now and can move forward with treatment that actually benefits you.

Tell Big Ben to hang in there as well. It takes a while, but he'll get some answers too.

There once was a deaf, dumb and blind gal that wasn't that dumb.

"Face your deficiencies and acknowledge them, but don't let them master you...
Let them teach you patience, sweetness and insight".

Thanks V; I feel like I wasted another day trip to Mayo yesterday to see a Neuro 'Specialist' for MS & all he did was talk, no scrips just more appts in early Nov to see if therapies or meds are an option for me.
I want some good drugs, the more the merrier & NOW dammit...

If it's any solace, my buddy at work's just turned 3-year old son is on hospice for neuroblastoma... And he's been doing chemo, radio and marrow transfusions for more than a year. Yet he stills musters a smile in photos and lives in the minute by minute.

I'm so sorry to hear about your friend's little man. That is nothing to laugh about, unlike me & my petty issues. Stay strong for your friend and his son.

I didn't mean to be a buzz kill. I really was trying to be encouraging in my f'd up way.

You've had a good long life of Sooner football. You'll have many more years as well.
