Well, you can’t blame them for having a real Hoosier mascot: a dirty, ugly slack-jawed knuckle-dragging back woodsman? on the other hand, if it fits…….

First off, this is bad. Weird choice. I've lived in Indiana for 70% of my life, and have never once heard a Hoosier citizen or Hoosier fan talk about bison. Opportunity squandered, IU.

Secondly, I got to witness a bison roundup in Oklahoma once. The Bureau of Land Management was taking blood samples and culling the bison with longhorn DNA to re-establish pure bison DNA (that's your bison burger meat, FYI). Was close enough to touch them once they were corraled. It was one of the most impressive sights of nature I've ever witnessed. The ground literally shook. Those animals are MASSIVE!! Eyeballs the size of your first. Sounds weird, but I fell in love with bison. The sheer mass and power was awe inspiring.

Fun fact, Ted Turner owns pretty much all the bison in America. I think he has the seven largest heards spread out in various states.

I've always thought the UK player introduction song should be Rock n Roll Hootchie Koo. Or alternately, Hair of the Dog by Nazareth. That would really resonate with the players I think.

I’d be willing to bet you very few young people even know the name Nazareth.

They are truly incredible animals that fed, clothed, and sheltered entire nations for hundreds (probably thousands) of years. The fact that they went from 30 million to 325 in only 54 years really displays the worst of human nature: exploitative, destructive greed with no regard for the natural order of things.

We now return to our regularly scheduled mocking of IU.

I just can't stop laughing. You can't make this **** up ya know ?

This thread needs to be immediately merged into the "bump when Indiana sucks" because this is seriuously some weird crap. I mean, c'mon. Bison is the gimmick? Sad. Sorry, hilariously weird angle.

It almost begs the question : Will Tennessee bring back juggling basketballs onto the court, riding a unicycle, leading the team onto the court again ? ?

Bisons. Seriously ?

I need to contact my good friend Kent Sterling and pick his brain on this one and razz him a bit.

It's been awhile......

Bisons. HA !

With the Watford shot and now this, it's been a helluva last 13 years for IU basketball.
