As long as we’re on the subject of breakfast foods (grits), I point out that National Bagel Day is quickly approaching - January 15. Bagels have a history that is richer than your favorite cream cheese spread! Brought to New York by Polish immigrants many decades ago, these rounds of dough can now be found just about anywhere in the USA - breakfast joints, coffee shops, supermarkets, or even your kitchen pantry. Although IMHO. It’s hard to find a really good bagel once you leave to East coast. If it’s not boiled, it’s not a bagel, it’s just round bread. My favorite is a toasted marble bagel with cream cheese and nova lox and a slice of tomato, but Sunday morning breakfasts have to be a toasted cinnamon raisin bagel with cream cheese and apple butter along with a half grapefruit and a late. How do you like yours?
