I guess it got by me but, Kansas has become the sixth state to implement an even more relaxed view of concealed carry.
As of this passed summer, it no longer requires training and or permits to carry concealed or open.
Much like the original Vermont 'no law'.
They did stress that training is strongly suggested, but is no longer a requirement.
The obvious exceptions are felons and the mentally deranged.

Stands to reason...as long as these nut jobs keep doing these mass shootings, more states will surely follow suit.
Come on Oklahoma, get with the program!:D

Hmm...I'm as pro-gun as anyone, but I'm not sure if I'm a big fan of this. I've always liked the idea that anyone who wants to "legally" conceal carry went through some sort of training to do it. So at the very least, they have some level of the basics of gun safety and handling one. I may have a more open-minded view about it, but having been in the military you wouldn't believe some of the people I've seen getting trained that were just beyond clueless about guns....and now in Kansas these type of people can go buy one and carry it around.....:eek:

I agree, they should have left the required training on the books. Not that one day at the range crap either.
I'm talking about a comprehensive course where you have to navigate a mock city, with friendlies and not friendlies 'popping up'.

You pass that, you're good to go.

My Dad trained me. I don't need to go to a school to train me...............HA!

On January 1st Texans with a permit can open carry or concealed. However, the police had a provision to harass the citizen add to the bill and you can be stopped and asked if you have a license without breaking any law.

Yeah, and that's one of the reasons I'd never open carry.
Besides, on its face open carry is just dumb. IMO
I'd prefer that the bad guys not know if I am or not.

Talk about putting a target on you in so many ways.

but I agree. For the most part...I will conceal carry just because I don't want to be the first one someone shoots.

I think its a personal choice. I know if I open carry I'll never be able to walk down a street without being stopped 10 times. I have all the indicators that I'm a thug. Tall, dark, & handsome with a .45.

While I doubt the tall, dark and handsome part, I surely commend your choice of .45. A very manly and optimal choice of round.

I have a springfield arms .45 that I carry all the time here unless it's shorts weather...then it's a .380 LCP

It'll put down any domestic terrorists that happen to appear off radar. I'm not worried and wear the "Infidel" patch prominently.

Any one that wants to come get some...I'm ready to rock and roll. Been there, done that overseas, here at home, it's all good, come get it.

I think the Oklahoma Self Defense Act laws are perfect and shouldn't change. I don't open-carry, but if I am in a store or an eating establishment, and I adjust my clothing and happen to expose my firearm, I don't have to be concerned that I broke some sort of printing or flashing law. So the right to "open carry" is a valuable one, even to guys like us who choose to carry concealed.

BTW - Gun Show at the OKC state fairgrounds this weekend. See you there. I'll be easy to spot. I shave my neck.

Ya I totally agree here. I'm not a fan of open carry, but the law itself does have a very good purpose for those who conceal carry. And if someone wants to be like John Wayne and carry their weapon for everyone to see, then that's a personal choice. You just won't ever see me doing it.

One can appreciate the reasoning behind what Kansas did.
They decided that they had been exploiting, and profiting from the second amendment.
In fact that's what they call it now...'Constitutional Carry'.

Governor Brownback signed the new laws totally deferring to the Second Amendment and its words therein.

Funny, much to the chagrin of the gun grabbers, there still hasn't been any wild west shoot outs
since the law took effect this passed July 1st...darn it all!:eek:

One more thing...no, all you 89,000 saps that took the safety course and got the permit before the law changed, you can't have your money back!:cool:
