Well, I do know how to look it up but I'll play. He was an assistant on the '78 championship team and that's 47 years ago and he looked late 20s to me at the time so I'll guess 75.

He really jump started that Miami program into what it has become. Amazing he was able to coach for so long. 36 years as a head coach in the Big Eight (now Big 12), Big East and ACC. Unfortunately in those 36 years, he only made it past the Sweet 16 once.

Best wishes to Hamilton. I assume most of the team will enter the portal after the season now. Looking at FLSt.'s roster it looks like they have a couple of Sophomores (Bowen and Deng) that might be a nice pickup as a 2nd unit PF option with upside.

When he was the assistant to Joe B he was one of the best recruiters in the game, the guy has always been a classy coach.

Sad to see, it, but he is 76 so He's been due to retire for a while. but the dude has aged well. I'm gonna guess the whole NIL mess has driven him out or at least gave him that last push he needed to call it a career.

When I was 14 and at Joe B. Hall basketball camp, lights were to be out at 10.

Fell asleep with mine on, coach Hamilton came into my room and slammed a play book on my chest.

Scared the F out of me, told me son turn the damn light out now if I find it on again after lights out you'll be sorry.

Ran into him at DFW airport about 15 yrs ago. Had the chance to share that with him, he just LOL really great guy.
