Currently driving a 2014 Audi S5 that is starting to burn oil at 135K miles. Love the car but I think it’s time to get something new.

Cars under consideration:

Audi S5 Sportback (I currently drive a coupe)
Cadillac CT5-V —- would love a Blackwing but out of my price range
Genesis G70

Thoughts, comments, other cars in this class I should consider?

I was a BMW guy for a long time. I had mostly 3s with one X5. I also had an A4 a while back in the middle of a couple of BMWs but the turbo was horrible in AZ heat. I still have an 06 330. We have a Tesla 3 now and absolutely love it. Can’t be beat for daily driver. Not the best for long road trips. The only car I’ve ever owned that gets upgraded for free over time. It may not work for everyone but it’s the best car I’ve ever owned. 21 months in with 26k miles so far. Only tires and cabin air filters.

My S5 is a coupe which was perfect for me but sucks if I ever have to transport more than one passenger, thus the S5 Sportback interest.

Trying to keep it around $70K.

Tires before 26k miles? That’s disappointing.

We like our Teslas. The Y has much more backseat legroom than the 3 (we aren’t bid spenders). If you’re used to performance, get the performance package, although you may have to go used on the Y to get it.

Agree. I was a little bummed but not surprised. The weight of the car definitely impacts wear. I’m told that torque has even more impact. I’ve heard others get twice that amount of mileage. I’ll see what the new tires get.

Tires on my BMWs didn’t last much longer.

Considering tires are the only real maintenance in this car, I’m not concerned.

I have also heard that the torque on the Teslas wears out tires sooner. Also, the rubber compound on the tires now is a bit softer for better ride quality and doesn’t last as long.

I am in the same boat... i crashed my 2017 Porsche Cayenne yesterday at a stop light, first non alcohol related accident in 30+ years (not major wreck, no air bags deployed but it doesn't take much to eff up a front end these days).

Very likely it gets totaled by State Farm so i am looking at Genesis GV70/80 or Acura MDX. I had an Audi Q7 before the Cayenne and it crapped out right at 135k miles as well.

Being in construction for 20+ years I get the trucks. The A/C guys, the illeg...er...irrigation guys, the landscape guys. One thing I have noticed in 35 years in my neck of SoFla is the increase in acceptance of pickups.

My hoa used to outlaw them. Then outlawed them w/ lettering. Then allowed them all. At our $150K initiation club, currently pickups probably make up about 15-20% of the parking lot w/ doctors driving Tremors for no reason. One hold out is Lost Tree - where Jack lives. The last time I was there, if you wanted to park a pickup, you parked it in the employee lot.

Still driving my 2000 Toyota Sienna…paid for 25 years ago, reliable, my Golden Retriever hops in/out the manual side door, low insurance cost….gets me to/from….what else do I really need….
We have a 2013 Toyota Venza with 197K (some minor issues) but I just drive around town Other vehicle is our 2015 Honda Accord (97 K).
Both paid off, no need at this time for a different vehicle.

Those cars will feel like driving a lawnmower after owning a Porsche

Seriously, at least give the Model 3 Performance a try. 0-60 in 2.9 and pretty cool flat cornering IMO at $55k, plus you may get some pricing incentives to take it lower.
