Looks like both sides of the aisle and POTUS seem to agree its time to do away with DST. Finding it affects people's health negatively and isn't saving the energy consumption it was intended.

so what do we stay with? FWIW I hope we stay with Daylight time so it stays light to like 9pm in the summer timeLooks like both sides of the aisle and POTUS seem to agree its time to do away with DST. They are debating which one to stay on and whether to have more daylight end of day or morning. But finally looks like this is going away for good.so what do we stay with? FWIW I hope we stay with Daylight time so it stays light to like 9pm in the summer time

for this reason, I'd keep it. it isnt that hardThey are debating which one to stay on and whether to have more daylight end of day or morning. But finally looks like this is going away for good.

Agree. Just leave it alone. It's really not much of an inconvenience and I question how much we benefit from changing.
Sounds simple, but I'm sure that is on the table. It's been discussed before.I just moved my clocks back 30 minutes. Split the difference.
I love the time changes, it makes great sense to me for just the daylight reasons. WHy have extra daylight at 4 am in the summer when you can have it at night where families can do things? And then in the winter we dont need it to do pitch dark at 8 am.
8 hour days are for sissiesBecause it’s scary and confusing for so many and frankly, apparently the only thing anyone can agree on in DC. But I’d really go all Trump on this - make it so there are no time zones and everyone has to work a 9-5 day regardless of where they are in the world. Behold - the UniClock.

IIRC Russia does not have any time zonesBecause it’s scary and confusing for so many and frankly, apparently the only thing anyone can agree on in DC. Don’t know what I was thinking but they have 11 time zones but not DSTPerfect.

Not when you’re playing 36 holes of golf.
this is what we are up against!China only has one

A lot depends on where you live. In the east I could kind of understand it. But here in the Southwest just pick one and stick with it. AZ doesn't do it unless you get on a Navajo Rez. which does follow it.I love the time changes, it makes great sense to me for just the daylight reasons. Haven't there been studies though, that show car accidents increase that first week of the time change?Agree. Just leave it alone. It's really not much of an inconvenience and I question how much we benefit from changing.
If they are going to change it, ditch DST. The pleasure of sunlight until after 9pm isn't enough to overcome the gloom of darkness at 8am in the winter.
Yeah, I think I've seen something like that. To the contrary, I also think there is a decrease in crime when there are longer summer daylight hours.Haven't there been studies though, that show car accidents increase that first week of the time change?
The main reason is studies done show it's not healthy especially for people on the East coastYeah, I think I've seen something like that. To the contrary, I also think there is a decrease in crime when there are longer summer daylight hours.
I would suspect that there could also be more car crashes from people driving in the dark in the winter mornings.
Well, we tried eliminating DST before and it was very unpopular, ending after just 8 months. The main reason is studies done show it's not healthy especially for people on the East coast
I understand this more than you imagineKids shouldn't (rarely anyway) be going to school in pitch darkness. For a variety of reasons.
Nobody touched my cars, most especially stoned lake boysJust like letting me pump my own gas in NJ. They dangle this out there every few years then it disappears.
interesting as I live almost on the coast and never heard that. The main reason is studies done show it's not healthy especially for people on the East coast
No idea ... Just relaying the studies they have done on how it really negatively affects people. Much more than originally thought as well as cost businesses money. Question will be which time do they useWell, we tried eliminating DST before and it was very unpopular, ending after just 8 months.
I think there were a number of kids killed in a morning car accident. Florida maybe?
Everyone seems to love the late summers. But man will winter mornings blow, especially up here in the north. Tough call.No idea ... That’s actually not unpossible.I just moved my clocks back 30 minutes. Split the difference.
