Soon to follow every northern team in the country.
I guess teams in the south can go up north for the summer and workout since it's much cooler.

Don't be surprised to see schools like ND & Nebraska follow suit to states like California & Texas...more exposure and network opportunities especially with HS Coaches in those areas.

Also waiting to see Ohio State also set up shop in Florida/Georgia.

I feel like these high schools that are specifically built for non-academic means should not be legal. This should include the schools for the arts as well, but I don't think they are as bad as these academies for athletes.

The NCAA will figure it out, they ALWAYS do what's best for student-athletes.

Of course they do!

In all seriousness, he's probably thinking about doing a week of spring practice down there. It would be a nightmare trying to keep track of all of those players every day/night, working with schedules/classes, and the cost of all of it for the entire spring practice time. It would be like a bowl game week for the players. I'm sure the spring game would be in Michigan.

To the NCAA's credit they shut down bogus schools that served as diploma mills a few years ago. Those were schools guys who couldn't read, write or spell their names could go and, miracle of miracles, suddenly get eligible. They became so blatant that they eventually caught the attention of people who knew better. These "schools" were primarily located in the south.

IMG-types are different but really not much. Tons of money are involved so it would be more difficult to regulate the non-academics.

I'm sure he would want his spring game to be at the big house though...should be all or nothing, if you travel for spring practices, you better have the spring game at the high school as well.

To be fair, I think they could have these schools if they are done properly. A large portion of athletes have some sort of learning disability. So, if they could really show that these schools helped and catered to athletes with learning disabilities, while giving them the opportunity to succeed in sports, then I might be on board with the idea. However, we know that these places are largely there for athletic purposes. Still, I suppose, that it is hard to wish those schools away when the colleges these kids end up attending are basically doing the same thing.

But what about the student athlete? How will they attend class form Florida for 3 or 4 weeks?
The plan is for Michigan to spend a week down there most likely during Spring Break...also if im not mistaken would get around the 20 hour rule

Brilliant move by Harbaugh and the Wolverines...if they pull it off they will hold it at the IMG Academy:

Just hunting an edge. A couple of northern schools "pardered" with Georgia State to have a football camp in Atlanta last summer. I can't remember which schools but Michigan could have been one and maybe tOSU was the other. Northern states produce a lot of good fast athletes, but not near the number of Florida or even Georgia. DL is really where the big difference is, all skill guys are fast regardless of where they come from. tOSU has gotten some elite kids from Georgia and Florida since Meyer went there, Michigan never really recruited the state very hard but were 2nd with the number 1 TE in this class, a very close 2nd and are in the hunt for one of the top athletes in the country who is also from Georgia.

True that but that learning disability thing was used at times by the diploma mills where it shouldn't have been. That's what got them shut down.

Ohh definitely. If they were going to use that then I would hold them to a higher standard in order for them to be accredited. Make them have so many staff that are qualified as special education teachers and things like that in order to prove that they are really there for education as well as academics.

I really like the ambition from Harbaugh...

It's going to be like baseball...

spring games are already somewhat of an event and usually televised...won't be long before the networks and conferences decide to squeeze a few more dollars out of some spring exhibition games...UM v FSU...OSU v Florida...MSU v Miami...Iowa v USF...ND v Texas...
