I’m watching #7 Michigan-San Diego State game on tv now being played in Vegas. Michigan is smoking a seasoned Aztecs 75- 45 midway in the 2nd half and look really strong against an experienced Aztec team. SDSU has some coaching connections to UM with prior HC Steve Fisher and current coach Brian Dutcher.

Michigan did cast a wide net in recruiting the transfer portal so money has helped them build this years squad. They are long and strong.

Our paper had this to say about UM:
“The Wolverines are beyond loaded, keeping a few pieces from last year’s Sweet 16 team while adding what on paper might be the nation’s most formidable front line: 7-3 Aday Mara from UCLA, 6-9 Morez Johnson Jr. from Illinois and 6-9 Yaxel Lendeborg from UAB plus UNC guard Elliot Cadeau. The transfer class was ranked No. 2 nationally by 247Sports, No. 3 by ESPN, No. 4 by On3.com.”

NU plays UM in Feb so I hope we can do better than the Aztecs. The Wolverines defense and rebounding have really held down the Aztecs offense which scored 107 points in their loss to Troy.

This is how quickly things change as rosters get used to playing together. MI, though winning, has not been that impressive. They looked below the quality of Purdue and Illinois.

The Big Ten is gonna be brutal. NU is a solid top 50 team and a universal bubble team and we're still like 14th in the conference. It's gonna be a war every night.

By February the some of the freshman should be more seasoned. Hopefully one or two have made some big strides by then.
