WTH? Why do the libs want to change it? It's all part of erasing and rewriting history, I suppose. Personally, I would prefer Ruth Bader Ginsburg on the 20.

I joke.

Political correctness is coming to our $$$ bills.

President Jackson signed the "Indian Removal Act" of 1830 that forced thousands to Oklahoma over the "Trail Where They Cried" ("Trail of Tears"). Thousands of Cherokee, Choctaw, Creek, Seminole and Chickasaw died.

My g-g-great paternal grandparents survived the trip, making possible my white Arkansas mother finding my father in Haskell County, Oklahoma. I suppose I should thank President Jackson , at least for his signature.

We should put porn stars on dollar bills, they've done more for morale than any politician...maybe do it by longevity or popularity, i.e. Ron Jeremy on the $100, Seka on the $50, John Holmes on the $100,000...you could even get them to use those fancy gifs so the pictures animate as you look at them. There'd be people sitting and staring at their money a lot more closely than now, and kids would learn the value of money a whole lot faster.

The meter. 1 meter = 100 centimeters. 1 U. S. dollar = 100 cents.
1 meter equals 1000 millimeters. 1 buck = 1000 mils. U. S. gasoline stations always price gasoline in dollars. $2.259. This method reflects 2 dollars and 25 cents and 9 mils.

The British Pound Sterling was the last major currency on earth to go metric or decimal in 1970. The transition was flawless. Many in government thought the change in currency would cause riots. The U. S. dollar was first to go metric in 1792.

In 1792, Congress fixed our currency for slow thinkers like me. I would be in big trouble if 12 dimes equaled a dollar and 24 pennies equaled a quarter.

So based on this logic, just because it is a decimal, it is metric. Okie Dokie. Decimal inches are now metric.

9 mils is also .009 inches. And inches ain't metric.

100 years is a century. And 100 years ain't metric.

Cent is simply the 100th unit in any system of measure.

How about removing all pictures from the currency? We are not England that had the Queen featured on the pound. We were all created equal and the hero worship of politicians needs to stop.............JMO

Or they could put Barry Switzer on it.....LOL

metric currency or coinage: A system of currency in which the smaller units are related to the principal units in the POWER OF 10.

From secretservice.gov/money: After the U. S. Constitution was ratified, Congress passed the Mint Act of 1792 which established the coinage system of the United States and the DOLLAR as the PRINCIPAL UNIT of currency. The first U. S. coins were struck in 1793 at the Philadelphia Mint and presented to Martha Washington.

By this act, the United States became the first country in the world to adopt the decimal system for currency.

Today, all but two countries in the world use a decimal or metric currency.

And now the numerically dysfunctional and idiotic inch/pounds system is for another day. I know it,too.

I'll add. Decimal does not always mean metric. U.S. currency is 10 small units (dimes) equal the principal unit (dollar) meaning metric. 10 mils = 1 cent. Hope this helps.

Section22, 9 mils is .2286 mm. I believe the mil you refer to is used in measuring film or plastic sheet. This mil is 1/1000ths of an inch.

The mil I refer to is the monetary mil which means 1/000ths of the principal unit (dollar).

I am glad to see you come around and agree that just because a unit of measure is in 1/10ths, 1/100ths, 1/1000th, etc, does not necessarily mean it is Metric.

Let me demonstrate by rewriting your earlier statement. Your statement is true, but so is mine.

1 inch equals 1000 mils. 1 buck = 1000 mils. U. S. gasoline stations always price gasoline in dollars. $2.259. This method reflects 2 dollars and 25 cents and 9 mils.

"Come around"? I came around at Taft Elementary in Lawton in the second grade when I was first introduced to the structure and history of the U. S. dollar. I came around and learned to measure paint drop cloths when I bought my first plastic 2 mil drop cloth at Sherman-Williams eons ago.

The buck is measured in monetary mils (mils) while the drop cloth is measured in mils. Both mils mean 1/1000ths of a unit. That is, buck (metric) and drop cloth (Imperial or English inch/pound).

Nothing "idiotic" about them. They even survived the nanny state attempt to force this nation to go totally metric in the late-70's. The American public wouldn't have it. And we've been the #1 economy in the world ever since.

Let me ask you this. Can you read a micrometer in inches? An inches vernier caliper? An inches dial caliper? A decimal pocket scale? Or is everything in fractions, in what you call an "idiotic" and "numerically dysfunctional" system?

I'm one of a handful of people in the world who knows the numerically dysfunctional and idiotic English system of measurement. I can ask you questions till the sun comes up in the morning that you can't answer. But even I must always be armed with a calculator.

Any dope in Mexico City will tell me how many meters are in 1.2 kilometers. Mensa genius 160 IQ Geena Davis hasn't a clue how many yards are in 1.2 miles. The U. S. remains stuck in a hybrid system that saddles taxpayers and business with staggering costs, with being out of step with the world. Note the Mars lander lost because the vehicle maker used English and NASA used metric. Conversion mistakes killed the high dollar lander. Today NASA is metric only in operations. English measure is used in public announcements. U. S exports sometime costs millions in mistakes alone. Russia will not accept Tyson chickens in pounds.

By hybrid I mean my 1 Liter Listerine bottle and my 1 quart milk carton.

Our conversion to metric is still on going. Visit a woman's hair salon and look at the hard metric sizes. 300 mL, 250 mL, 500 mL.

Half gallon (1.89 L) orange juice? Most has been replaced with a hard metric 1.75 L plastic or glass. Many old 1/2 gallon paper cartons now contain 1.75 liters leaving more space in the carton.

See the caulks at Home Depot? Used to be 10 fl. oz. 296mL. Today most are 300 mL 10.1 fl. oz. My after shave used to be Old Spice 4 fl. oz. 118mL. Today a hard metric125 mL 4.2 fl. oz.

See the regular sized oil bottles at Auto Zone? Every single last one of them are 1 Liter although the bottle contains 1 U. S. quart or 946 mL. Mobil began the bottle size change in the mid '90s and Conoco completed this change circa 2002.

Oops! I've talked to mechanics who have overfilled crankcases because some refinery robots put a whole liter in the bottle.

It's becoming painfully evident that getting through to you is completely beyond my reach. I wish I could do better.

So tell me, when are they going to re-layout all our highways and streets into square kilometers? And when will a section of land be re-divided from 640 acres down to 100 hectare?

When is OU and the rest of American Football going to get rid of the yard markers on the field? Samaje Perine won't be making any 50-meter runs. Neither will his son. Or his grandson.

When is the NWS going to give us barometric pressure readings in Kilopascals?

Caulk used to be sold in 10 oz tubes. The State of California got all pissy because consumers were getting only 9.9 oz. out of the tube. 0.1 oz of product cannot be dispensed from the nozzle. So they had to go to 10.1 oz. I was smack-dab in the middle of that retooling project for the largest manufacturer of sealants in the 1980's. I was actually doing something, not just sitting behind a desk telling everyone how stupid Mexicans are or how idiotic Americans are and how superior my knowledge is over everyone else's.

Does the doubling of numeric values in a system of measure bother you that much?
2, 4, 8, 16, 32.... ?
Everything needs to be 10, 100, 1000 for it not to be "idiotic and dysfunctional" ?

Then you've got a major problem on your hands. Binary.

8-bit
16-bit
32-bit
64-bit

00001000 = 8
00010000 = 16
00100000 = 32
01000000 = 64

Looks like binary is idiotic and dysfunctional too. Just like the other systems of measure used by the #1 nation in the world. You better get it changed because Mensa genius 160 IQ Geena Davis probably doesn't have any idea how many sectors are in a 128 GB solid state drive.
