Yesterday, my bride & I said goodbye to our grandson. He's now in the capable hands of the United States Marine Corp! Paris Island.
We're both happy he's chosen to serve his country & same time nervous & apprehensive considering all that's happening round the world.
One thing about it, the Corp is gaining one bright, extremely intelligent & humble young man. A lil bragging, yes, but proven by what others say bout him & based on all the aptitude testing he received in HS.
Gonna be tough on us cuz we can't talk to nor visit for 9+ weeks.

How can anyone join our military? It is literally impossible to fulfill the oath. You cannot defend the constitution and obey the orders of the President. Are they still requiring the shot? We are also provoking a war with Russia. I pray he remains safe from our government.

(a) Enlistment Oath.—Each person enlisting in an armed force shall take the following oath:
“I, ____________________, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.”

Fully understand your point & admit I too had reservations, given the turmoil round the world. Actually had several lenghty conversations w/him awhile back. Not being political, he don't like this president nor would he give you a plugged nickel for anyone who's a politician, but loves America & all we stand for & in his mind, he's got a duty to fulfill.

Same attitude I had when I joined until I finally retired in 1995. I will pray for him and all our military.
