Some very good teams getting blown out of the gym the last few days. I don't remember this many double digit and 20+ point margins in conference quarters/semis ever.

Perhaps for the top seeds, the conference tournaments are becoming about as important as bowl games.

They're important to teams needing higher seeds and and bubble teams, but beyond that, their benefits are negligible.

For a long time, only the ACC and Southern conferences ran them, but someone elsewhere figured out that there was TV money to be made.

In the early days, the ACC and Southern conferences crowned the tournament winner as the conference champions and the league's only NCAA bid went to that team. It brought about some very unsatisfying outcomes.

I think it shows the balance in college basketball. It only takes a few great players and other guys who are willing to play their roles. The Dance should be very interesting this year. Can’t wait!
