From the article:

USC coach Steve Sarkisian is taking a "forced leave of absence" from the football team, according to athletic director Pat Haden.

While speaking to the press, Haden said that Sarkisian is "not healthy" and is taking an indefinite leave of absence. Haden said he made the determination that Sarkisian was "not healthy" during a telephone call with him on Sunday afternoon.

FoxSports.com's Bruce Feldman reported on Sunday that Sarkisian "showed up in no condition to work" on Sunday.

Wow. Don't remember ever seeing that happen before. I'm sure it has but I've never heard of it. Sarkisian is blowing a dream job.

Is it the pressure or is it his ego celebrating his being head coach at USC? Alcoholics go overboard for a variety of reasons.

Definitely an unpredictable 'Disease' that has ruined many a poor souls life. I hope he gets the support needed to deal with it.....and the courage and strength to overcome it. Prayers for him and his family during this trying time in his life.

They had no real choice but Haden handled it badly...I'm thinking USC may try to make a play for Mark Dantonio...

There was talk that if Chip Kelly and the Eagles nosedive this year that he could be headed to USC but that may have been premature. The Eagles looked good yesterday.

Sumlin would be a good hire but im not sure if he has the west coast ties for recruiting purposes. Would be surprised to see Kelly leave the Eagles this early in the season. He doesnt seem to be the classiest though.

The guy I would go after is Chris Petersen at Washington. What he did at Boise St was phenomenal and he has plenty of recruiting ties to the Los Angeles area. His Boise teams were loaded with players from So Cal.

Probably not enough of a flashy hire for USC but for every Pete Carroll there is a Lane Kiffin.
