Heading to State College to visit the family this weekend. Google tells me a lot has changed in recent years. Anyone have some good restaurant recommendations? Much appreciated.

The Corner Room is not what it used to be. There’s a Greek restaurant that was on B1G Eats on BTN. It looked pretty good, but we haven’t tried it yet. I can’t remember the name of the restaurant.

I’m assuming the Greek restaurant you’re talking about is The Greek, located behind the NAth Waffle Shop. Great food, but I haven’t been there since the pandemic to verify.

Cafe Alina is one of my more recent favorites. A little Pakistani place on Calder Way tucked in behind the now vacant Baby’s. The hidden location might save it from the normal Arts Fest crowd. Always get a side of the Channa (chick peas). Always.

Pita Cabana has been around for awhile and is a very good little joint. Imagine a Lebanese version of Chipotle, but with delicious food. They are on Calder Way, just around the corner from Chipotle. If they happen to have any of their homemade baklava, get a piece. Or two.

Lupita’s opened a second location on West Beaver has good Mexican food. Although with Arts Fest, their original location inside the Uni Mart way out on West College & Whitehall may be the better option.

The Tavern.
We have reservations for Thursday evening which I made a month ago. Probably too late to make a reservation during Arts Festival at this point........ A good friend worked there when he was at PSU about 50 years ago and he was a good friend of the long time owners who I believe sold out. Friend has some stories of how he helped accumulate some of the football memorabilia displayed there...........

Thanks for the recommendations. I'm sure we'll get to at least one of them.

Facia Luna is now closed.☹️

I think its temporary. What day and time were you there? Just checked their facebook page and they posted a message dated July 26 saying the following:

"Due to staffing shortages we will be closed for the next few Tuesdays. We will reopen Wednesday at 4pm."

It’s the Overlook in Centre hall. Now owned by the Harrison’s. I’m not sure if it’s is open right now for dining or just special events.

Been to Hublersville a couple of times and really like it. Last trip was especially good. Nice outside dining area if the weather cooperates.

Yep....Pat Croce's son is part owner of the Corner Room now and changed the best thing about the place.....the huge menu.

@J.E.B nice list. Have not been to Refarm or Pine Grove Hall yet, have you? What do you think?

Creekside? is that the Gamble Mill building? If yes, been there and it was good.

I really wish Allen Street Grill and Gigis were better. Love the atmosphere at both, but most times the food is not great. Good but no wow factor

want to get to Tavern. Was there when it first opened and i don’t think they were ready for the large crowd.b

Dont forget Ottos, Barrell 21, Central Reservation (pretty good), Hi Way Pizza (west college location is open, but I believe N Atheton location is closed) BRGR (is it still open?), Old New York (out by mall, good place, nice bar area)

American Ale House is best place in my opinion. Love the steam bar, best steaks in town. Kelly’s and Happy Valley Brewing I would say are next. For places not in town, Hublersburg is the best. If it was in sC I would go more often.

interested in going to Grace since the remodel. . I stopped in the other day, and place looks great. They totally redid ir. Wher the Library was is now the dining room and old dining room has a great looking bar. I believe they are going to offer a bar menu.

Bellefonte you have Governors Pub, State Burger, Hofbrau Haus (never been there, but have been told their pizza is outstanding), 4 ways pub, Urban Flvr haus,

Agree. Took a few of the staples off the menu. It amazes me that you would not come in and as,, what are things we need to keep on the menu that the people loved.

same thing happened at the Tavern. Toll House Pie is gone from the dessert menu!
