My sister and her family was spared a direct hit of the Tornado that hit Van, TX. They were home and braced for the worse but somehow, someway, they were very fortunate as they were spared. Their neighbors next door lost everything and her neighbor across the street was killed. The sister's house lost some shingles, two large trees and a fence. They were blessed to say the least. These twisters are a strange phenom in how they unfold.

Yeah, those damn things. They'll tell you that they're indiscriminate, but I don't know about that.
I mean, you described how they seemingly cherry picked this house and avoided that house. It would appear that way, of course, but we know it's a mindless, malevolent entity.
