I never knew that the was a Union for faculty. You'd think tenure was enough. Bad for players to Unionize, but OK for the paid staff? Huh.

"Ollie is a member of the University of Connecticut's branch of the American Association of University Professors, a union that represents thousands of faculty members around the country. Per those close to the situation, few college basketball coaches possess union protection."

Pretty common I believe for public universities. The fact the Ollie is included is likely because of state labor regulations.

Neither unions nor tenure are as lock down as people make them out to be. At least not for teachers. My wife was part of a process where a tenured teacher represented by the Michigan teacher's union (a pretty strong union) was removed due to performance issues. It took some time and documentation, you can't just throw people out the window but there was a process of mentoring and performance review. Even with a positive report by the mentor (my wife) the teacher was terminated. Sorry if that is more for the rant board.
