Yeah. Rutgers managed to lose to Monmouth, although Monmouth is pretty good: they beat UCLA in Pauley, split 2 games with USC, beat then #17 Notre Dame and beat Georgetown. Pretty good non-conference schedule, assuming they do OK in their conference (the MAAC) they should be a lock for the NCAA. And the fabled Big East power St. Johns lost at home to NJIT. Wonder if Chris Mullins regrets returning to Queens now......

These results show you how hard it is to start 10-1. There are lots of capable teams out there who can pull an upset when they get hot or when you have an off night shooting like we did against DePaul (UMass Lowell gave UConn a tough game last night as well). That's why it's so encouraging to see this team find ways to win the close games and come from behind late like they did Saturday and against Columbia.
NU played well against a DePaul team that played very well. Shots didn't fall for 3/4 of the game, but you can play solid, all around basketball and miss shots.
Given how many threes NU missed DePaul could have been up 10 or 15, or more at a couple points. Being able to rotate in fresh bodies really helped against a quick, athletic team.

Amazing how quickly things can change. A couple of years ago, Nebraska was headed for the NCAA tourney and Miles was considered one of the young coaching geniuses in the league.
Hear hear. It's all about the players. The #1 criteria for a successful coach is the ability to recruit. A coach is only as good as the talent on the floor. Collins is the golden boy this season but will lose 2 of his best players next.....we'll see who steps up to replace 40% of this years scoring. No a knock on CCC, just agreeing with you how difficult it is to sustain high performance.
The Monmouth story is incredible. They are led by former McDonalds All-American and North Carolina guard King Rice. There's little doubt Rice will be a very hot coaching commodity this off-season.
Also, Mullin has no regrets. Give him a year or two and he will have the Johnnies back on top of the Big East.
