The numb nuts that run the Honolulu PD decided to destroy, with chop saws, 575,000 bucks worth of Smith&Wesson 9MM pistols instead of donating them to another police agency or selling them for 50 cents on the dollar to FFL dealers on the mainland. (they're replacing them with the cheaper and lighter Glock 17)
Idiots!
2300 perfectly good firearms, 200 of them new in box!
They could have sold them, gave the money to local charities, soup kitchens, what the hell is wrong with people?
Ugh!

I'm sure they are scared to death of the PC crap that if they sold the guns and someday a gun was used in a crime it would be a field day for the anti-gun crowd. It would be fast-and-furious all over again, except the Honolulu PD would be the bad guys. Pretty sad things like this happen since the media would roast the police dept alive if given the chance.

I'm okay with this, even though it is a waste of taxpayer's dollars. It means fewer guns that could get into the hands of thugs and crazies.

Oh, I get that too.

I've been around them so much all my life that they have taken on the innocuous characteristics of a massively expensive hammer, or a jewel encrusted chainsaw.

This should not be an issue. All they have to do is grind away the serial numbers. I'm sure they have guys sitting around in the hoosegow doing nothing. Put them to work and make $$$.

Maybe it’s time to rethink recycling. Save the planet.

Yeah, you'd think.

I thought that was the foo foo mantra...recycle, re-purpose.
