1) Classic Club Sandwich on white toast w/ both ham and turkey
2) Canadian Bacon Cosmo

1) I’ve recently had brisket bacon on sourdough with lettuce and tomato, so a Brisket Bacon LT.
1a) My favorite is a crabby shrimp with fresh crab meat (not canned) and diced key west pink shrimp with lettuce, onion, and some mayo. This is made best with fresh ingredients.

2) Basic Italian from White House in Atlantic City. Oil no mayo.

3) Chicken cheesesteak with fried onions on fresh roll.

Oystah po boy ranks high.

Triple deck turkey and bacon club. Extra mayo. (Admittedly oddly..) not too high a meat to other ratio (gets too dry).

Good portobello properly dressed on a ciabatta.

My cheesesteak preference prolly doesn’t align with purists. Grilled onions, mushrooms, American, crushed cherry peppers and a dollop of mayo.

I like all three but if I have to choose I'll say hoagie/sub.

The best subs come from local Italian delis. Wegman's makes good subs but a foot long is up to $16 so I don't buy them as often as I used to. Publix makes a good sub using Boar's Head meats.

P.S. I used to love Quiznos because they toasted the roll. I think most of them do that now.

1- lebanon bologna, cheddar cheese, bread & butter pickles, dried hot pepper flakes, cheap yellow mustard, with potato chips smashed into the sandwich

1a - grilled cheese with swiss & muenster

1b - if i’m eating out and a reuben is on the menu, there’s a 7 out of 5 chance i’m ordering it

2- growing up, the local pizza joint had a sausage, peppers, onions, cheese, & egg hoagie that was fantastic with some of their sauce

2a- hard to beat a good italian with hot pepper relish and extra onions

3- in the garden with raw & fried onions and extra cheese

1. A central PA classic, the Ox Roast Sandwich. Ground roast beef (on the salty side) soaked in its own broth served with sweet relish on a Martin's potato roll.

2. Lebanon bologna, american cheese, Miracle Whip, and Wise Ridgies chips on a Martin's potato roll.

3. Classic CC Peppers Special sub with extra hot pepper relish, mushrooms, cosmo.

Honorable Mention: many Ruebens (many also suck!), most Cubans, the open-face Hot Roast Beef, with french fries, and gravy over all of it from the Capital Hotel in Hollidaysburg, Pa. at around 2:30 a.m. circa 1978.

White House subs are the best around.

Introduce yourselves to a Buffalo, NY favorite: Beef on Weck. Thin sliced roast beef piled in a kummelweck roll (salt and caraway seeds on top) with a side of horseradish sauce and au jus for dipping. Wegman’s make a good kummelweck roll, FYI. Good stuff. Also can’t beat DiNic’s roast pork sammich with broccoli rabe, sharp provolone and au jus (long hots too!).

1) Boars Head low sodium ham and provolone on a bagel. No condiments.
2) Jersey Mike’s Italian with lettuce, tomato, onion, oil, vinegar, and oregano. No condiments.
3) Vinnie’s Pizza cheesesteak in Wall, NJ is still the best I’ve ever had. No peppers, no condiments.

1) Turkey and Swiss on a Kaiser Roll with mayo or Pork Roll Egg and Cheese on a Kaiser Roll(West Point Deli had the best sandwiches but it is no longer around)

2) Italian Hoagie - Lee's Hoagies used to make killer Hoagies but not sure if they are around any more.

3) Cheesesteak with FOS(Fried onions and sauce), oh and real cheese, provolone, none of that cheese whiz crap, I have been hooked on the cheesesteaks on a pretzel roll from Jay's Steaks & Hoagies in Langhorne

1) Lots of good choices, but I like a good reuben. We have a local BBQ place that made one with brisket last year that was amazing.
2) Ditto--but an Italian with oil and vinegar suits me.
3) Dalessandros. wit, mushrooms, provolone. End of story. My mom was from Manayunk, so....

This is a trick question, all three are sandwiches.

But I will go with the toasted italian combo (as served) from Patti's Pizza on the corner of east 38th and Pine Ave in Erie Pa.

1.) North Shore Roast Beef - 3-way.

The Boston area sucks for local, "regional" specialty foods. I don't like seafood and the Irish are terrible cooks. But this is one local varietal I can recommend. Melt in your mouth sliced roast beef, with american cheese, mayo and BBQ sauce. It's silly good.

2.) Don't have a favorite. They're all pretty good, and none are amazing. Need hots and oil + vinegar on them, though.

3.) Philly cheesesteaks are crap. Give me a steak and provolone, with mucho marinara sauce.

Favorite sandwich -- there are none, but I enjoy the following in no particular order.
  • Club with turkey on white toast with mayo on each slice of toast
  • Reuben (prefer grilled) on rye with a good meat to sauerkraut ratio
  • Sub (Super Combo @ Sandwich Man on Allentown Blvd. Harrisburg)
  • Sub (Jersey Mikes) an Italian, my way -- mayo, lettuce, tomato, onions with a smear of hot relish
  • Philly Cheese Steak (multi locations) but my favorite here in State College is CC Pepper's with extra meat
  • Lebanon Bologna (sweet) on white bread with mayo on one slice and a little yellow mustard on the other, white American cheese, thin slice of onion, and used to enjoy some crushed Wise Potato Chips
If all were on the menu, I'd just go out of my freakin' mind!

3) My homemade cheesesteak with shaved ribeye and American cheese on a Liscio’s roll with bread and butter stacker pickles.

The Deli used to have a great Reuben.
Man, I ate a lot of CC Pepper's Italian with hot pepper relish and extra mayo.
I do like Jersey Mike's Big Kahuna cheesesteak. Never had one of the famous Philly cheesesteaks.

I have a strange cheese steak habit. I have a meat slicer and shave ribeye often. I also have an outdoor griddle.

Sometimes it's just steak, cheese, ketchup and a little yellow mustard.

Agree about the deli Reuben. And allow me to get into the way back machine but the old Stage Door Deli had very good sandwiches

1 - Smoked Whitefish /Havarti cheese on an everything bagel.

2- Tuna Hoagie from anyplace that has proper rolls.

3- Geno’s Cheesesteak Wit . There’s lots of great competitors, but I like the ambiance of eating on the sidewalk, on the few rare occasions that I’m up thataway.

Try a little bit of Tony Catchere's on the meat while cooking next time. You'll thank me later.

and, you're right about rolls not being sliced through. All subs/hoagies/cheesesteaks require a "hinge". This is why Jersey Mike's sucks!
