Good for the fifth highest ranked team in the BIG. It's fun for now, but we'll see....

(Also, good year to strike as the BIG is clearly down this year. Only two teams in the Top25 and one of them is Wisconsin, which I still doubt is all that good.)

I couldn't help but notice this company we're in:

24 Duke Duke12-42218
25 Marquette Marquette13-41311

Others receiving votes: Baylor 93, Clemson 43, Florida Atlantic 33, Indiana 30, Saint Mary's 24, Michigan State 24, Northwestern 21, Illinois 13, Mississippi State 13, Rutgers 13, Ohio State 9, Creighton 4, North Carolina 4, NC State 4, LSU 3, Pittsburgh 2, New Mexico 2, Nevada 1

So we're basically in the same neighborhood as Duke, Indiana, and North Carolina, as least this week. Do those teams have anybody on their rosters that are interesting to us?

Bizarre that 2 teams NU beat have more votes, and two that whipped NU have fewer votes than NU. Goes to show how dumb polls are.

It’s almost as if the transitive property doesn’t make sense. Weird.

That was what popped out to me, the rarified presence of B1G in the ranking. It suggests the B1G is competitive as hell as it has great parity. But it's not a conference of elite teams.

To me, that's not necessarily a "this year" thing. The flaming out in March of the last years is a good indicator how the computers might overrate the B1G.

And we swallow it, every week. We, the fans, the broadcasters, everyone. Go back a week and what was said, here, on TV, about Ohio State was at least a bit exaggerated.
