The good news is that a 2 p.m. game is a good circumstance to host recruits. Since we've had a few 11 a.m. games in a row, this will be a much better weekend for hosting.

It does suck for TV, but I've paid for ESPN+. I hate that I can't record it.

This game isn’t on ESPN + if both teams didn’t have 3 losses each. Let’s face it, unless you’re crimson & cream or green & gold, this game probably isn’t going to draw your interest.

Do you think TCU's battering of Texas Tech is as attractive to other fans? OU is a national draw, even when we're 5-3 If we played Baylor on ABC or Fox at 11:00 and TCU v Tech was on the other, OUr ratings would be higher.

Not when both teams are unranked, each with 5-3 records. Similar to the season when Bomar was the starting QB and OU was unranked after the first couple of games. Not too many people outside of the two fanbases of OU and whomever they were playing cared too much about watching it.

TCU has actually garnered a lot of national interest as a Cinderella team to make the playoff this year.

I don't think he cares if it's a lot more income for the Athletics Dept.
Well, I don’t like that attitude. Put the fans first and the money will keep coming in. But forcing fans to watch on a streaming service that can’t be recorded and pay a fee to have something that you may only watch a couple of times a year isn’t fan friendly. I never failed to watch the one PPV game every year but didn’t get to watch that game this year because of ESPN+. Money isn’t the issue. Forcing you to subscribe to a streaming service to watch your favorite college team is wrong.

edit:
Sorry, Plaino. I didn’t intend to snap at you. I’m just tried of the changing world but especially when it screws with my Sooners.

In the end, being on ESPN plus at least allows us as fans to watch the game. The problem is that when was the last time an OU game outside of the annual PPV game wasnt on cable TV?

This will not be an issue once we get to the SEC as at the least they would be relegated to the SEC network which for most cable subscribers is a part of the package. This is where the B12 fails with the TV deals and why they get shifted to the streaming ESPN app.

Just to add, if ESPN was really smart, they would include the ā€œ plusā€ into its barganing table with the cable providers allowing viewers to watch it that way. It is much easier to be able to watch it via your cable subscriber than through an app that may or may not work.

I think from a national perspective, that little # 7 (& likely to get smaller) in front of TCU’s name, not to mention the Cinderella factor that LV alluded to trumps anything our game has to offer (barring an absolute mathematical miracle) again, to almost anybody outside the BU & OU fan bases. It’s a bitter pill to swallow, & I hate taking it every bit as much as anyone, but that’s the reality of the current situation. Hopefully it gets fixed in the near future.

OT - That 2OT game against Baylor that year... a nail-biter. I remember it well.

Welp, looks like its Rizzos (OU alumni bar across from Wrigley up here; at least competing with Cub fans for parking is not a prob).

If I remember correctly everyone was excited about the ESPN+ deal when it was announced. I added it to my Disney package. We all knew games would be available thru ESPN+.

Oh it is great for basketball, baseball and Softball and that one PPV football game. This day and age though I doubt any of us ever thought a conference game in football would be relegated to it. I got it basically for the purpose of the other OU sports

Not to mention there are thousands of fans that don’t own a Smart TV. Actually when Joe announced the new partnership with ESPN I never dreamed Plus would interrupt network games. PPV was all I was expecting.

Three words: SPORTS BAR!
That’s the first thing I thought but so far I haven’t found one in Tulsa that’s offering the game.

Scottsdale, is this a poke at Joe Biden. Three words: SPORTS BAR! Just kidding.

In DFW, there are more Sooner fans than there are Horned Frog fans. And they're the local team. TCU only sells out at home when they're undefeated two thirds of the way through the season, or playing somebody who brings more visiting fans to the game than home fans.

If TCU plays Baylor in the CCG, the game likely won't be a sellout, with two schools less than 110 miles away. Baylor-OU will be a better game, and more people would watch that than TCU's blowout of Tech. If Tech unexpectedly makes close, a few extra national people will watch the fourth quarter broadcast.

Maybe.

Yes that was a poke at Joe Biden. I am told that Twin Peaks carries ESPN+.

FYI.... When OU played Kent State on ESPN+, I was somehow able to watch it LIVE on YouTube.
How did this work? Just search in YouTube? I refuse to get espn plus. This will be the first time listening on radio only since the 2000 Kansas game I think.

Search YouTube for "Oklahoma vs Baylor 2022". It worked for me for the Kent State game in September.

Scottsdale, our only Twin Peaks is now an IHOP. Evidently, Tulsans like pancakes more than tits. I never realized that. šŸ˜‚
Thanks, You suddenly made me realize why i selected Scottsdale over Tulsa as my retirement location!! The Twin Peaks in Scottsdale is super successful. Always busy full house and food is above average. The ASU girls are WELL above average!

Great Ryan Leaf is calling the game.
He's definitely mediocre, but the lady on play by play was like a junior in a first year broadcasting class. If she were a guy, she couldn't get a small college gig.

For those with ESPN+ the lady Sooners play at 4 and the guys play at 7:30. Our girls are supposed to have a talented team this year.
