Eventually these bonehead penalties by the players is going to cost the Sooners a game. To date OU is one of the worst penalized teams in CFB and it isn’t the 5 yard variety that concerns me but those 15 yard types that do.

We went from first and goal at the 8 to 4th and goal from the 50 that included 2 bad plays and 2 penalties with the one PF taking them out of FG range after Calcaterra reception put OU in FG range on that series.

These type of penalties have been an issue for a few years now. What is everyones thoughts on these?

OU up 42-7 before subs hit the field; players being rested; week before Texas; penalties due to aggression are part of it (per LR). No I'm not worried, they will get lined out.

This crap goes on at all levels and it seems to me that it has continued and gotten worse. Some games, especially at the NFL level, are like watching a prison yard riot.
I can't understand why Riley can't or won't at least reduce this activity.
The sign over the exit in the OU dressing room says "Play Like a Champion Today".....how about "Play Smart Like a Champion Today" ?
It's too bad many so-called fans actually get off to this kind of crap.

I have always respected your opinions but its the dumb penalties that concern me not the aggression penalties. You may get by with it vs the Kansas’ of the world but it will bite you in the *** against the better teams eventually.

Seems to me that while the game was a good win and tuneup for next week and that Riley was able to go deep into his away game depth chart, the penalties were still inexcusable whether it was by a starter or a reserve player. With all the issues facing OU now, uncontrolled "aggression" can't become an influence in the final score. I know about the intensity of each play and how the adrenaline takes over in the heat of the game, but it has to be contained to some degree.

Bedenbaugh can’t be too pleased with the OL penalties killing 1-2 TDs. The holding on Lamb’s fantastic punt return was just plain dumb. So there are 2-3 scores wasted. Got to play more disciplined in RRR plain and simple. I left the game feeling pretty disappointed in many aspects. KU played reasonably hard, and we just seemed to be indifferent.

Agreed about Coach B. I'm thrilled at the job he's done replacing all that talent from last year's O-line, but the holding penalties have got to stop. They are driver-killers and as we have seen in almost every game this year, we were not able to overcome the holding penalty and had to turn the ball over. Can't continue to do that vs. texas, Baylor, ISU, OSU, etc.

The "dumb" penalties - unnecessary roughness, taunting, late hits, etc. - also seem to be on the increase this year too. I like guys being aggressive, but they have to play with poise and keep their emotions in check!
