I've seen the replay several times since we got back from Knoxville and was noticing how well our receivers block downfield on a run or when the ball has been caught by another receiver and especially when Mayfield scrambled. Many of the successful plays in the 4Q and OT were due to guys making and sustaining their blocks downfield. I don't know if it's an improvement over what Norvell was coaching, but I really like the tenacity and toughness shown by our WRs on every play whether they are being thrown to or not.
Once again, Shep was outstanding, but we need another guy - Neal, Baxter, Westbrook, etc. - to step up and make more plays to take some pressure off Shep force the D to cover our other guys and to balance the running game.
Although they are not the best offense we'll see this year, our ability to slow down (didn't say stop) their running game was huge as their offense was ineffective after they went up 17-0 due to the INT and outstanding field position. The two drives at the end of the game sealed the win, but the outstanding job by our D to hold them scoreless from the middle of the 2nd quarter to the end of the game was outstanding. I know it's only been two games, but the D is playing strong right now and appears to be turning a corner after last year's debacle.
