Well, I'd rather face those teams than Alabama,Auburn, Florida, UT, or UCONN.
I hope so. I like that extra spice. But the whole selection committee sets up matchups. Does it really happen that often? We played Indiana. That was 9 years ago.
It really doesn’t happen often. It’s one of those things where the fan presuppositions override the data. Then when it happens rarely, confirmation bias reminds the person that it always happens.
The committee will have to do a lot of shuffling to keep the top 4 SEC teams in different regions while also trying to follow guidance that if the same conference teams played 2 times this season they can't meet until the Sweet 16 and if they played 3 times they can't meet until the Elite 8.
We should worry about winning the first game. Something we have only done once this decade.
I’d love a St.Johns matchup as our 2 compared to who else could be our 2s. Give me SJ or Michigan State all day for a shot at an E8
Eh. I'm not playing the first game. I can worry about a multitude of things. Portal. Recruiting. Playing Pitino. Our next coach after Pope retires. I'll be ready Thursday or Friday.
ETA. Is also like to see UCSD vs UCLA. Richard Pitino and New Mexico with St John's. Alabama State against either Auburn or Alabama

If we are a 3 seed the only options for our 2 seed would be Mich St and St Johns (the other 2 seeds are SEC teams)

Yep. It seems like the most likely scenario for UK is some combo with Auburn/Florida as the 1 and MSU/St Johns as the 2.
Probably either in the South or West.
St johns doesn't deserve a 2 seed. They remind me of Gonzaga getting higher serfs all those years solely due to gaudy overall record. They will get one but it isn't deserved IMO.
All the talk about the committee making our bracket path full of “stories “ is ridiculous every year.

And the thing also is stories tend to be locally related and based on the bracket rules and keep conference teams apart you are always more likely to see certain teams over other teams.
All the times we’ve seen UL in the tournament wasn’t because Pitino was coaching and they wanted a “story”. All the times we’ve faced WVU. Same thing.
When you actually look at the bracket rules you quickly begin to realize why these things tend to happen.
But I’ve learned people will believe what they want.

I don't mind playing Pitino. Just don't want to have to play Cal. I think that would be a lot of pressure on Pope and this fanbase.

As of now they say a 10 but I much rather be a 11 and play a 6/3 games instead of 7/2.
It's a big drop in talent this year in a 2 and a 3.
