Very well stated. I just hope the excellent recruits we have realize there is an opportunity to play immediately and do not bail on LP.One word of caution: don't be angry with the team. I've never advocated being mad at bad players.
They are only here because our staff wanted them, pursued them and compelled them to come here. Our coaches are the ones who told these guys they were good enough to play in the SEC.
Our staff has taken a roster of mostly mid-major talent (at best...and some not even mid-major talent) and asked them to compete in the toughest basketball conference. It's one thing to be challenged and stretched. It's another to be placed in an absolutely hopeless situation, which is where our roster is right now (save for CMB). That is a sure-fire recipe for frustration and despair, which is coming through in our play.
He did the same last year. Took mid-major talent and won. My point? Until you can start pulling in top talent every year in this NIL / transfer environment, you are going to have some ups and downs. From a recruiting standpoint, I like the direction. Paris is not going away, nor should he. I know we are normally an SEC power, but it's going to take some time to get us back.Very well stated. Georgia is not historically good this year. They are about where they've been for years. They beat us by 11.Have to have good guard play in college basketball and ours is atrocious. We have no PG, even when healthy.
Historically strong SEC. We simply lost the heart and soul of our team from last season. Didn’t replace Cooper’s leadership on and off the court. He was clutch in big games. BJ Mack wasn’t replaced either. Meechie had huge games and we miss him and didn’t replace him either.
Combine that with a team that just can find ways to win close games and you have a bad recipe for success. This is what we’ve got. It’s really not as far away from a competitive team as our record shows or our emotions tell us. Still, the losses keep adding up and it is what it is. I believe this team would be middle of the pack, if not higher, in SEC seasons past. Just not cutting it this season…not even close.
Frustrating as hell and sucks to see we couldn’t follow up on a solid season last year. We lived by the portal and we’ll die by the portal.
I might also add that it’s extremely disappointing that Cam Scott isn’t ready to get decent minutes on this team. Not writing him off just yet, but definitely not optimistic.
Georgia is better than they have been but they aren't elite in any way.Georgia is not historically good this year. They are about where they've been for years. They beat us by 11.

Talent is one thing, but the most frustrating thing is how STUPID we play. One word of caution: don't be angry with the team. I've never advocated being mad at bad players.

Came from Ohio State? You mean he played for Ohio State last season.Meechie came from Ohio State. It showed.
He played for Ohio State before coming here last season. Then he went back. I'm just highlighting that we didn't do it with all mid-major talent last year. We had some (at least 1) legit xfer portal players. This year's harvest was much thinner.Came from Ohio State? You mean he played for Ohio State last season.
Gotcha. Feels as if he's been gone longer. Although he had some very good games, he also had some stinkers. One thing that has frustrated me the past 10 years, is the UGA consistently out recruited USC. Fortunately, they usually underperform. He did the same last year. Took mid-major talent and won. If UGA ever gets their act together in basketball and baseball they will be a force to be reckoned with. It looks like their new coach is getting better results in basketball and their baseball is ranked 11th or so. The sleeping giant may be stirring a little. One thing that has frustrated me the past 10 years, is the UGA consistently out recruited USC. Fortunately, they usually underperform.
Good players are going to gravitate to schools with more NIL $$'s to spend. This, along with their proximity to Atlanta will likely have them contending in every major sport. If UGA ever gets their act together in basketball and baseball they will be a force to be reckoned with. Well I'm not a fan. I'm an alum & also a financial contributor to the university. It disgusts me that any fan can be "disgusted" by a bunch of kids and staff trying as hard as they can to win. Last years team was more talented and everything seemed to go our way. Seems like this year is the opposite and the team isn`t as talented. Didn`t hear anyone complaining about Paris last year - SEC Coach of the Year right? It`s a bad year - give the man time. If you are disgusted maybe you shouldn`t watch anymore games this year.

Comical to say the least! Those are not a bunch of kids trying as hard as they can to win. Those are a bunch of paid athletes who are not doing the job they are paid to do.
The man doesn't deserve any more time. He got a huge raise after he showed what he was capable of last season and he should be delivering more of what he is paid to deliver. He is not some high school PE teacher who gets a modest supplement for coaching the boys basketball team. It is Paris' job to manage the roster so he doesn't have a team devoid of talent. Again, he gets paid millions each year to do his job and this is part of his job.
Pre-NIL, if you had a very good chance at being a successful pro in your sport, you'll go to a school which can maximize your exposure. Can extra NIL $$$ thrown at a recruit successfully have them consider a school such as USC (WBB and baseball excluded since we have historic success. Sadly, MBB was but a flash in the pan, slowly extinguished by our ACC secession).Good players are going to gravitate to schools with more NIL $$'s to spend. This, along with their proximity to Atlanta will likely have them contending in every major sport.
Gentlemen Gamecocks.Maybe the women's team should be the Gamecocks and the men's team should be the Lady Gamecocks.
If this is how you feel it's probably time to stop watching men's basketball. It's supposed to be entertainment, so if it just pisses you off, perhaps find something else to fill your time.Well I'm not a fan. I'm an alum & also a financial contributor to the university.
Those aren't kids out there playing for my school. They're now professional basketball players as they're getting paid. They disgust me how they're playing. I also can't say they're playing as hard as they can.
Never once said anything about Paris.
Ironic you should mention. I gave away my seats for the aTm game & didn't even turn it on the tube to watch a second of it.If this is how you feel it's probably time to stop watching men's basketball. Probably a good decision.Ironic you should mention. I gave away my seats for the aTm game & didn't even turn it on the tube to watch a second of it.
