Overall, not the best night for the Brothers Kopp

Not only did Miller have to scuffle tonight; younger brother Anderson (who plays for Lamar Univ.) also had an off-night in shooting. The Cardinals played Louisianao-Monroe, not exactly a juggernaut either.

Miller was 3-9 overall, 0-3 from 3-pt; 2-4 from the line. Well below his average. Anderson (also leading scorer so far on his team) was 2-11 on FGs, 0-3 on 3s, no FTs. Both will have better nights ahead, but interesting that neither showed individually to good advantage in back-to-back games.

Biggest difference was in their teams' outcomes. Lamar came from behind and won on a last-second 3-pt prayer; the Cats frittered away their lead and lost in the closing seconds. As it happened, I was able to see both games on the tube. Probably the only person to do that outside the Kopp family.

The frustration on this board is understandable and I share it. But it's too early to bail on the season. Count me as a fan who still hopes the Cats team wins a decent number of conference games due to its coaching -- or in spite of it.

Saw on Twitter that Kopp stayed after the game to shoot threes and free throws and run sprints. You could tell during the game he's hard on himself. His missed free throw hurt. He's our best player, and he did not play well at all.

We have plenty of evidence that Kopp is legit. He was hounded all last season and still clipped at 40% from 3. Yesterday was not unlike last year, he had a bad game here and there.

Still questions remain about how our offense attempts to maximize our most prolific scorer. In a year where Buie is supposed to be more mature and facilitate more. And where Audige looks like an added piece drawing attention.
