Oweh was selfish last year. He just happened to have other guys around him who were not. Now he’s selfish with several other selfish guys.
We missed on Wilkerson and Yaxel because we overvalued Garrison and Oweh.
Oweh is a clown. Kentucky will always be bigger than him.

My educated guess is that Pope is all in on Oweh and Garrison and others on the team know they are issues. And perhaps that is why other players are lost on Pope. Because he played them both more than they should.

Pope has no other choice. He made a mistake paying them, but boosters would not be happy if these guys who were paid millions sit on the bench even if they deserve it.
Pope whiffed badly on these two, but the age of NIL put a fork into controlling this the right way.

Then the crazy line swing before UL game… you can’t convince me we don’t have at least one player who’s been compromised. I want to see where the big money came from on that game. Wasnt Mitch The Uk board of trustees forbid Mitch from talking to two coaches that he was going to call 1. Bruce Pearl 2. Nate Oats. So you cant put all the blame on Mitch when our own board was hamstringing him as well. I fully believe Pearl or Oates would have been here if he were allowed to speak with them. After he wasn't that left the two leading candidates as Shaka Smart and Mark Pope would rather have Pope over Smart any day.
We probably would have had a very different offseason outlook on Oweh if he had missed two layups against OU last year.
It’s exactly what I’m saying. I’ve paid close attention to him since middle way through last season when he made some absolutely unmistakable blunders with basic dribbling. I know of several instances last season that no player especially one like Oweh would make. Just letting the ball roll right out of his hand to defenders. And he’s done it several times. Then lazy defense and allow the points to rise followed by acrobatic dunk and great defense once we’re down.
There were more than once game I rewatched and paid attention closely. I’ll never not believe it no matter what anyone says. I played sports those mistakes aren’t made. Anyone that’s played should see it. He essentially looked like the NBA players losing their powers during the game in space jam.

Jasper loves to "get his" as soon as he comes into a game, that's for sure. He looks like a 7th grader out there. Bigger, mature guards are going to eat him alive all season.
As for Oweh, it's going to be a chore to get him to the basket this season with paint-cloggers like Garrison and Mo out there with him. Not to mention lacking a point guard who can create. The halfcourt offense is just disgusting right now. Lowe can improve it a little but there's too many holes. Lack of shooting being the most glaring. Swinging Mo out to the 3-point line isn't going to accomplish anything. If you're an opposing coach, you tell your player not to go within 10 feet of him if he's lingering on the perimeter.

It was reported on KSR and Matt has talked on air in public on multiple occasions about the board stipulating there were coaches he was not allowed to speak with regarding the job. I guess you know Mitch personally and speak with him often and he discusses who he would call an wouldnt with you? or are you just mind reading guessing? My bet would be baseless guessing as to what Mitch would or wouldn't do.
I read his reaction to Pope's comment about getting better as ...."good luck with that." I don't believe Oweh thinks we have enough talent to get there. I agree with him but think he's not that great either.
Its a new day, gotta move forward. I think the first course of action for Pope is to figure out who the problem player is and correct it. And if it cant be corrected that player needs to be benched or even removed from the team .. if thats Oweh, so be it.
And then in regards to benching, he needs to move BG to the bench, and play the 5 guys who are actually giving effort. Hard to see who that is exactly. But I'm thinking Moreno, Chandler, Aberdeen and Mo D *appear* to be doing their part and trying.
You put the right guys in even if they arent the best fit. Because you cant play guys that dont really care to be here. And then maybe, maybe those types come around once they get the memo.

I think Pope’s biggest mistake has been putting a lot of faith in Oweh and BG being anchors of this team, and they have been the opposite. BG is simply limited and seems to lack effort at times. Oweh is a different story. He does seem to have a legit bad attitude. I think the giant NIL payment has hurt his motivation. I also think all the pre-season hype got to his head. Now I’m starting to wonder if he’s jealous of other guys on the team playing better/getting attention that he think he should be getting. I don’t know, but Oweh was never going to be the player he was made out to be pre-season, and now his attitude/lack of leadership seems to be hurting this team.

Oweh thinks he's a professional basketball player, but he's not. Could be a good college player with the right attitude.
So because Matt says it, it's true? No disrespect to Matt, but I don't think that he has that inside information that some people believe he has.
The lack of discipline in today's sports is absolutely absurd. If I saw that as a coach, I'd have a 1v1 meeting with Oweh. I'd tell him that until you have a better attitude you're the 6th man. Become a team player and if you don't, you're playing time is limited. If you don't like that, don't let the door hit you on the way out. I'd say the same thing to Garrison but he would be the 8th or 9th money until he shows consistent effort.

The NBA told Oweh that they needed to see him make more 3s, so of course he going to take as many 3s as possible, even when there is a better shot avaliable. This is another factor in team chemistry and him not putting the team first.
I wish he had stayed in the draft. All of his money could have gone to a five star recruit.
