Anyone have a strong opinion on a trip to this area? Heading down first week of October, flights booked just need accommodations. Wife and I want a mix of something to do and relaxation.
I recommend going north of Cancun to Playa Mujeres rather than the Hotel Zone or Riviera Maya.
We stayed in a beachfront casita at the La Amada (now called the The Beloved). It was a really nice room with a large balcony and a private rooftop with a wading pool, bed and outdoor shower.
You can take the nearby ferry to Isla Mujeres and stay there for a day of fun.
Have stayed at the Moon Palace and Riu Palace Las Americas in Cancun multiple times. Don't have any complaints about either place. Moon costs a little more but is a sprawling resort outside of Cancun. Has a Jack Nicklaus golf course and many activities on the resort.
