No coincidence that the five-star 2021 NU target plays for Sussex Hamilton.

From NUSports...

Hope NU has a coach or two at his game. They can probably still catch a late flight Saturday or an early morning one Sunday to N.J..

Two coaches and an AD, as a matter of fact.

He was starting to say "When I commit..." and then quickly changed it to "If I commit....".

I have to admit, I assumed there wasn't a chance in the world this kid would come to NU, but that interview really does make you think there is at least some chance.

It might be he is just being respectful to the staff. However, I have to admit that I have been in the slim to no chance camp for awhile. This at least gives me pause.

. . . . . and if he WERE to commit, mightn't that give Max Christie a bit of food for thought about staying home?

I still think we have no chance at either player, but I've often wondered why we've never just had two or three studs who were iconoclasts who just decided together - "let's just go to Northwestern and blow the doors off this whole thing?" Any five-star can go to Kentucky or Duke. Why not just do something crazy no one expected? I know it's a pipe dream, but it's a dream I think about from time to time.

Evanston beat Baldwin’s team 70-68 in triple OT.
ETHS Evanston’s team! 20-3 this season. Best team in town.

Because who cares about being a Northwestern legend? Steph Curry is a Davidson legend and it’s now irrelevant to both the school and him.

Not the case at all. He’s wildly impactful to Davidson and I’m sure Davidson is still very near and dear to him.

And to further that point, his brother Seth went to Duke (after a year at Liberty). Good player, has gone on to have a nice NBA career.... yet does Duke remember him at all? He probably doesn’t even crack the top 25 of Duke players that fans recall from the last fifteen years.

If a recruit is wanting to leave a legacy in college, blue blood is almost always not the place to do that (notable exception: Zion Williamson... but that is rare).

(Caveat: nobody has any idea if a recruit actually care about their legacy, or if they just want to win, or if they just want to prep for the NBA. I imagine it’s different with each kid)

I agree. Maybe not a big deal to a lot of kids to be a legend at a minor program. But does not seem less relevant than to be one more, of many, at a blue blood.

Isn't that what Vic Law did?

While injured a year or so ago, Seth posted a video of him watching and cheering for Davidson and the “silver fox” (McKillop). He clearly still cares about the (other) Wildcats.

ETHS’ tallest starter is 6’2. They beat other teams with speed, tenacious defense and 3 point shooting. Their starters are all juniors. I do not believe NU is recruiting any of them. Pat Baldwin (the coach) has been at several ETHS games.

What’s the kids name who has been a stud since his freshman year on ETHS? He’s got to get some looks right?
