Anybody hear the story behind this? Not my favorite player, but I hope the kid is alright.

I was at the game and noticed him crying as well. There was no obvious reason why he should be but this was a quote after the game by Fran, ""It changes a lot," McCaffery said about when Sandfort struggles. "We don't have a lot going on in the post... I thought he was forcing it a little bit too much and he can do that and get it going, so I let him go. But he felt really bad because he felt he took some bad shots.""

From my years in a college basketball locker room, I can attest that many players cry after every loss. Guess he just couldn't keep it in until after they had left the court.

he was exhausted...and probably worn out cuz that NU defense was incredible....and I thought played their best defensive game of the year....Iowa spaces and moves the ball and back cuts...actually fun to watch..but I though NU was SUPER prepared and executed at an extremely high level....and credit to Sandfort for the 100% effort but he and his team mates got outplayed tonight by the Cats who win the best way.....hustle, hustle, hustle and darn good basketball....and coaching...If Coach Lowery put together the D plan...good on ya mate.

The game was a delight for Cat fans who love watching us defend. Only a few flubbed switches and tons of hustle.

It’s rough for the teams involved, but the BTT cut line adds a lot of drama to games like last night’s. Iowa is in really big trouble now — hosting Michigan State and then having to go to Nebraska.

I feel for him despite my intense dislike of IA. He knew they had to win this one and they didn’t.

I was impressed by NUs defense last night. The way they collapsed on drives, cut off the backdoor passes (Berry), yet did a decent job at the arc. Suffocating.

I think he also cried last year in the game they lost all hopes of dancing. Granted, yesterday they only lost hopes of BTT.

Which means all chance of dancing
I cannot explain it but Iowa is my least favorite B1G team and always has a legion of rosy cheek punks with punchable faces. No feels from Sandfort weeping at all. Have yourself a nice NIT.

I wish we had both Sandforts and Dix. Martinelli would have 30 a game because they would be doubling all of them and Berry and leaving him alone. Dix is automatic from the top of the key. So is Sandfort. They are all like Langford last year. Glad we don't have to face them again, but wish we could find a few more of them. My son went to Iowa. We have a cease fire. I root for Iowa football when NU is only so-so and he roots for NU bball. PEACE IN OUR TIME. (OK, maybe not a great reference, but it works. Ha)

This is his last year of college ball and maybe it hit him that they won’t make the big ten tourney or ncaa tournament. And he’s not used to losing to the cats. Three strikes and you cry.

Actually if the season ended today Iowa would be in the BTT. I think USC has fallen below the cut line.

Yes, USC, Washington and Penn State are the teams now below the cut line. I follow all three of those teams rooting for them to lose, which is an entertaining thing to do, since I have little else to do. Go 'Cats!

Washington and Penn State now are officially out of the Big Ten Tournament. It looks like USC still has an outside chance to make the cut, but it appears that they will need to win both of their last 2 games to do so. They play Washington first, which they could possibly win, but then they play UCLA, which I can't see them winning. I think that's correct, but I'm not positive. Trying to figure this stuff out makes my head hurt.

Makes my head hurt too, but best I can tell:

Washington/Penn State: Eliminated from BTT.

USC (6-12) / Minnesota (7-11): NU holds head to head advantage

Iowa (6-12): Split head to head so idk what next tiebreaker is

Rutgers (7-11) / Nebraska (7-11): Beat NU head to head

USC and Iowa are very vulnerable. NU is in a very good position to make the BTT regardless of what happens from here. Ideally Big Matt is OK and the Cats press the advantage against UCLA. 8 wins won’t get a bye but will get a winnable first round matchup.

Assuming Iowa loses to MSU and we’re tied with them, we have the tiebreaker over them by virtue of our win against Maryland - the win against the highest seeded team in the conference among the two tied teams.
