Oh I saw it . It was one of those shirts that supposed to have a collar pin through it. Guess he forgot the pin.

Actually the hole was a bit further down the collar than those for a color pin, so I think it must have been some other system to pin down the colar. Either way, it imay have been a new "cut", but it surely is not a new "style."
