Tennis facilities were included in the first phase of Ms. Excellence's Master Plan. You can see where that went. Maybe if she'd used a stronger mouthwash when she hit up Pegula...

So now Kraft’s got this. We know he has Sandy’s FACILITY. MASTER. PLAN. o_O , and from what he’s said about it, he’s a huge fan. o_O

She has slowly made her way to the top American woman over the past 8 years and is really poised to win her first major. Dismantled Barbara krecickova earlier today.

On a related note, the new Break Point documentary is pretty interesting on Netflix. Similar to Drive to Survive for F1, it’s a peak behind the curtain for both men and women tennis players.

American tennis may be hitting a Renaissance not seen since the late 80s right now. Unreal the new players that are showing well at the Aussie open. New USTA center in FLA is a big part.

In other Australian Open news, unseeded American Tommy Paul (never heard of him) beat unseeded Ben Shelton (never heard of him either) to reach the semi-finals, unfortunately, he'll face Novak D. next.

Australian Open 2023 Day 10: Tommy Paul becomes 1st American man in semis since 2009, will face Novak Djokovic (yahoo.com)

Will be a shame when Novak has the record for most GS's instead of Nadal and/or Federer. He'll likely rack up another half dozen here in the next two years.

And Djokovic wins the men's title in 3 against Tsisipas to tie Nadal with 22 majors. Simply amazing. Not a big fan of Djokovic but there's no denying his talent and tenacity. Tsispas played hard to the end despite facing a brick wall. Last two sets were tiebreaks.

Nice guys finish last (Federer, Nadal) while the a-hole gets the crown. Barf. Bet dollars to donuts he’s on PEDs.
I'm not sure what you are saying. Federer finished with 20 Grand Slam titles and has a net worth of $550 million. Nadal has 22 Grand Slam titles and has net worth of $200 million. These are nice guys finishing last?

Yes. Because it’s not all about money. Djokovic
has been the least injured of the big three and even faked an injury at the Australian Open to keep up the ruse. He calls a bunch of injury time outs to further facilitate this nonsense. So injured he blew past his QF opponent in straight sets. Said opponent had this to say:

At his post-match press conference, De Minaur -- who noted how well Djokovic was able to move around the court -- was asked about his opponent's hamstring and all the fuss around it.

"It's the only thing everyone's been talking about," said the 23-year-old.

"Today I was out there on court against him. Either I'm not a good enough tennis player to expose that or... it looked good to me."

I thought the same but wanted to see if anyone else did. Yeah, sometimes nice people do find themselves at the top of their profession. David Hilbert was the greatest mathematician of his time and he was a very nice, very supportive man.

Yeah, Djokivic is a dick, been that way for the longest time. A dick at the top of his profession, happens, and it makes you fume. But “nice guys finish last” doesn’t apply to Federer or Nadal.

In the loosest, most glib version of the phrase it does (to me and other tennis fans I know).

I'm not sure what you are saying. Federer finished with 20 Grand Slam titles. Nadal has 22 Grand Slam titles. These are nice guys finishing last? The sport was lucky to have three of the greatest men's players all playing at the same time. I've enjoyed watching all of them. There's no bullpen, no bench, no back-ups in tennis.

Use whatever phrase or anecdote you want - Djokovic is the worst guy to be the best ever. That is the point.
