The NCAA will used the decreased penalty as (yet another) excuse to let UNC**** off the hook.

NCAA: "We'll never overreach like that again. Taking away years of wins is not what we should be doing to anyone"

I don't have an issue with this. Paterno sure as heck is never going to know they did and that makes me happy. They should not have taken those wins away, but the guy was a POS and the old, out of touch with reality spin he put on the situation sickens me to this day.

Amazing what the NCAA will do not to take those championship banners down at UNC*** almost as if UNC*** had so much power over the NCAA they would do anything to keep from being exposed.

Point accomplished: Joe Pa died thinking most of his life's work had been erased, and that's not even close to the punishment he should have gotten for allowing what happened to happen. Now that he's gone, give the players, who had no bearing on the situation, credit for what they did.

The NCAA never actually had any grounds to do anything, except if you believe they can do whatever they want whenever they want. To me, it was a criminal case, and Sandusky, Paterno, and whoever else helped push the scandal to the side should have went to prison.

The NCAA is simply completely incompetent and should just be abolished. "Oh, we are sorry. We punished PSU with no idea of the facts."

Well it's good they reinstated those wins. NCAA wasn't within their bounds to take them away in the first place.

There was a lawsuit against the NCAA brought on by a Pennsylvania senator . The NCAA saw the writing on the wall ( they were going to get their *** handed to them ) and caved in BIGTIME . The NCAA is currently a joke , they have no teeth just bark , and all you have to do is stand up to them . I

This is just another crack in the NCAA foundation. The NCAA is going to be replaced or completely restructured sooner than later. Too many mistakes, favoritism, ridiculousness etc.

They are walking on eggshells these days. Dissent among the ranks (member schools) is growing. Take the UNC fiasco as an example. If they crush them, UNC will become the head voice of ditching or significantly changing the NCAA. If they smack them on the wrist, the NCAA probably buys themselves a little extra time (read more time to fatten their bank accounts), but the outcome is inevitable.

All my nobody opinon, just how I see it going.

NCAA will probably add wins to UNC's total.

I'm pretty sure the $60M fine has yet to be settled. If anything, where the money will be spent is the only outstanding question.

$60M >>> Wins (especially since the POS died before this happened)

$ is suppose to go to charities - abuse kids, etc. in the state of Penn.

Yes, it was a criminal matter in the Penn State case. It had nothing to do with education or athletics that related to competitive college sporting events.

Yet, with the UNC**** situation, there is an issue that obviously affects both education and athletics, especially where the two intersect... easily falling into NCAA jurisdiction. But the NCAA desperately tries to pass it off as being outside their review.

Giving Penn's victories (and I'm glad for the players) back to the university is just clearing the path for UNC**** to get a slap on the wrist, if that. UNC**** is quite happy about this, I'm sure.

Now the NCAA can focus all their efforts and resources to giving UK the death penalty for going to the Bahamas!

NCAA overreaching and acting as if they were some supreme authority on justice in the world was about as big of a clown show as I've ever seen...

Vacating wins doesn't do anything to advance the fight against pedophilia...it punished hundreds of innocent athletes...

But I will agree that this may be a good sign for UNC...

We all know the NCAA would prefer not pop UNC too hard...so now they are setting precedent to allow them to acknowledge that they may have over stepped in the past and do not want to punish many innocents for the failings of a few "rogue" professors...or something like that...

I mean it's going to be borderline laughable I'm sure...maybe a post season ban for a year or two and loss of a couple scholarships for the golf and swim teams...they
