197: #4 Josh Barr vs. #16 John Poznanski (JP)

Per 1
Both guys quickly trying to get lower than the other one. Pretty funny @ 197. Nothing much thru 2 min. Stalemate with 0:26 left. Barr nearly shot 2 times. Then he does, and gets a head outside single, Poz with a split, and the buzzer sounds, nothing. End

Per 2
JP takes bottom. Barr nearly tilts with a half nelson, but nothing. OOB with 1:08 left. Barr flattens him shortly after the ref told JP to show him something. Stall warning on Barr, so a stoppage with 0:13 left. End. A rideout. RT @ 2:00 for Barr

Per 3
Barr takes bottom. He's up and out in 4 sec, 1-0. Barr shoots and gets a single, and gets behind for the TD, 4-0. OOB with 1:37 left. Olympic start becomes an esc, 4-1. Barr in on a double and gets the TD, 7-1. He cuts him 7-2. He spins behind him for the TD, 10-2. He cuts him, 10-3. Barr gets behind for the TD, 13-3. He cuts and then gets a TD, 16-3. OOB with 0:55. Barr wants him on his feet so it's 16-4. Barr with a TD, cuts, and a TD. TF, 22-6, @ 6:19!! (I probably missed a point to Poz there -- that period was crazy.)

That surprised me. Poz uses is a battler, but he was totally spent in the 3rd period.

32-3, PSU

7 TDs and an esc by Barr in 1:19. smh
It's a good thing Barr stalled that 2nd period so he had the energy to score 21 points in the 3rd. šŸ˜†

#2 Kerkvliet vs. #7 Yaraslau Slavikouski (YS)

242.4 vs. 240.4

Per 1
Kerk nearly gets a leg but YS backs out of it. They are on the edge. Kerk reaches for a leg, nothing. Kerk shoots, nothing. Stall warning on YS. Kerk sort of shoots, nothing. Stoppage for blood with 0:29 left (Kerk's nose, I think). End

Per 2
Kerk takes bottom. Kerk with a roll for the esc in 2 sec, 1-0. Stoppage for interlocking hands with 1:01 left. Kerk shoots a double, YS sprawls, nothing. End RT @ 0:02 for YS.

Per 3
YS takes neutral. (Not sure why, YS has yet to really shoot.) Kerk in on a double, but YS backs off the mat. Stoppage and a stall call on YS. Goodale throws the brick. Seems like a waste to me. After review, the call is confirmed. 2-0. YS sort of reaches, nothing. YS kind of reaches, nothing. End. 2-0, DEC for Kerk

35-3, PSU

Tyler Kasak interview:

Q: congratulations
- thank you

Q: are you feeling good you'r wrestling free
- I'm feeling relaxed, getting used to the big crowds, everyone is just building into March. There's a lot more I have to offer, and week-to-week, we keep building and enjoy the process

Q: talk about your top game
- working with Coach Casey. Where to put your pinky, your thumb, evolving off of that in making it your own. I'm liking how it's coming together

Q: how much are you enjoying being a part of this team
- I love wrestling after Shayne, he's a point scorer. Watching him do his thing. Leading off Mitchell --- he's just awesome. I'll tell him stories about fishing adventures or hunting adventures -- we have fun before matches

Q: big one coming up next week
- there's no denying, I've had this marked on my calendar since the schedule came out. I'm looking forward to the tough guys versus the technique guys. It's going to be a really, really good time.

Refs tonight seemed quicker than usual to call stalling… both teams, all positions… one side complained!

I think the guy that Barr wrestled completely gave up. His mindset must have been I’m not going to play this game of let me up take me down. I’ve won at high levels before and this is beneath me. Even though he was let up and taken down in the3rd 4 times lol. šŸ˜‚

There is something wrong with Kerk. He didn’t look good. Tired or sick?

Besides Barr the whole squad looked sluggish. They have one dual every year like this. It’s usually because Cael pushes them hard that week from my recollection. Possibly to prepare them for Iowa in a week. I’m not worried.

Last week, I think I saw it on the other board for what it's worth, that Kerk had the flu and that SVN was his roommate and they were wondering if he caught the flu from Kerk after he lost . Nothing I can verify.
I was thinking the same thing about the guy Barr wrestled. He looked like he may have been sick or something also.

You know you have an embarrassment of riches when your team is lethargic and is able to eke out a 35-3 win on the road over a team with nine ranked wrestlers.

Not sure where else to put this since the Iowa thread isn’t up yet. Not sure the team needs any bulletin board material to motivate but here we go

Can't be at peak constantly. Training takes this into account and there will be duals that look like this. The whole year is built around peaking at NCAAs. And probably Iowa

I thought Rutgers wrestled extremely hard...they were just outmanned. This is about as Rutgers as you can get...
