So it wasn’t that Carter needed two more weeks to be ready to go, Carte was 100% then and it was Cael using an abundance of caution in case he was reinjured?

It seems clear now that Carter isn’t 100%, and I’d imagine he was even worse at Big 10’s, and Cael was trying to protect his national title hopes.

Agreed he isn't 100%. Key today against Lewis IMHO will be riding Lewis. Can Carter stay on top, Lewis usually can be ridden if you can get on top. I expect a low score with Carter not 100% and Lewis is a counter puncher. Can Carter get out from underneath and can he stay on top and ride Lewis.

If Carter lose today, I'm guessing he defaults out of the rest of the tourney...title or bust?

Well, I'd suggest that Carter can't give up an early takedown to Lewis--like happened in his previous two matches. It might be time for him to walk on the mat with just a sleeve on that knee, and hope that that is enough. Lewis is really quick, and Carter needs to try to keep the scoring low.

There is no way a 100% Carter gives up two takedowns against inferior opponents. His defense and positioning is phenomenal.

The good thing is that he has wrestled A LOT of very, very close matches during his career at Penn State. Let's hope he can get a TD on Lewis early and then ride the hell out of him to lighten his gas tank. I'm still a bit concerned that he didn't throw that leg in yesterday in his second match while on top. Lewis is a big, strong dude.

I think the seeding helps Starocci. His knee isn’t 100% and he will have two less matches on it when he faces Lewis in the quarterfinals rather than tomorrow night in the finals.
