26 different colleges and universities I believe. They include the traditional powerhouses like Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, Iowa State, Iowa and of course Penn State. They also have been from far away schools such as Cal State - Bakersfield as well as smaller PA schools such as Bloomsburg, Clarion and Lock Haven. I don't believe any other state comes close to that diversity of talent.
Interestingly, one school which has not fielded a national champion from PA is Ohio State. When Sammy Sasso was in the finals a couple of years ago, I thought he would be the first.
