1. It is a harder transition than we hoped, but it is not even half of one season.
2. The problems we are having is not solely because players are not trying or "buying in", and it is not solely because we are devoid of talent. And it is not solely because of coaching. But all three are certainly contributors.
3. Yes, even bad coaching. Many of our players do not seem to understand football basics, and it shows most of all on special teams, but also in dumb penalties and overall lack of discipline. Players have a responsibility to be accountable for their preparedness, but coaches need to be better at recognizing who is ready to play and preparing them to play. They can do better.
4. The defense has 7 Blackshirts (I think that hasn't changed) and gave up 514 yards today. Coaches are not assessing players correctly. No defense that gives up nearly 40 points a game should have so many Blackshirts. It makes it meaningless, and re-establishing the traditions that made us successful is supposed to be a large part of the long-term plan.
5. We have a talented freshman who didn't play last year throwing 42 passes. That is asking a lot of such a young and inexperienced kid. We need to give him a lot of slack.
6. No recruits will want to play here is the fans lose their minds. They come because of our exciting coach, our tradition, our facilities, and our fan base. Let's not forget that.
7. Finally, the fact is, if Scott Frost can't do it at Nebraska, it can't be done.
