Petra's lead singer in that video is John Schlitt, formerly lead singer of 80's band Head East. Kicked out of Head East for drug/alcohol addiction, John was ready to kill himself. Through his wife and her pastor he saved himself and found his calling through Jesus. Joined Petra 5 years later and they were one of if not the leading Christian Rock bands for the next 20 years.
I happened to have a chance to meet John a few months ago as he and the band Union of Sinners and Saints, a compilation of Petra and Whiteheart, practiced for their upcoming tour. Great guy, incredibly positive and would do anything for anyone if they were in need.
Had never been a Christian music fan but was completely blown away at the talent I saw during their rehearsal. It was just me, a friend of mine and the band--as a lifelong music lover it was a treat to see experienced artists practice their craft, regardless of the genre of music.
Bottom line, you can mock his faith, mock their music....but I have a whole lot of respect for people who care way more about others than themselves.
And now you know, the rest of the story.....
