My grandparents had dogs, and my dad's had three great dogs over the past 25+ years, but growing up, my immediate family never had any pets (unless an occasional goldfish or farm cats count), and I've never had a pet as an adult.

Do you have any pets?

No. I’m from the country. I don’t do indoor pets. You need a big fenced yard to have a dog.

I like dogs and particularly boxers.

I'd suggest to anyone thinking of a dog as a pet that they find one of the on line questionaires that asks you about your lifestyle, wants, needs and expectations of a dog and then gives you suggestions of which breed is most likely to work best for you.

Why would you even have such a dog?

Why any man has a small type of dog: women. But, she's one of the cutest dogs ever. Well mannered. Easily trained (well, kinda). Funny. Good personality. She looks more like a Westie, and doesn't have that Pomeranian-type snout, which I hate.

Our agreement is I get to pick the next dog, which will be an Aussie

The dog we had died a couple of years ago, she was 15.

I'd love to have another one, but now it's just me and my son, and once he begins going back to school there won't be anyone here to let it out during the day. I just don't think it's fair to expect a dog to hold it all day until one of us gets home from work or school.

Used to have a 12.5 year old Great Dane - best dog ever (a)
14 year old Great Dane - best dog ever (b)
12 year old shih tzu

They all slept and will sleep in the bed with us. Dogs are the best and deserve the best.

German Shepherd (65 lb female) and an Anatolian Shepherd (160 lb male)...they’re awesome and i always know when someone is approaching the house. We have a half acre fenced, so they play constantly. The female is the alpha even though she’s smaller...she’s so much faster than him, but if an intruder comes around he’ll take care of business. No worries when I travel for work

11 Dogs
19 chickens
1 guinea hen
2 horses
4 gold fish.

expect goats sooner than later....
11 dogs seems like a lot to me! I have one female German Shepherd that sleeps on the floor at the foot of my bed. Follows me everywhere on my farm. Can be playing on the four wheeler, working on the tractor, fishing the pond, working (drinking) in the workshop, she’s right beside me.

Grew up with both dogs and cats but have been a cat person since marriage, just too lazy to have a dog and dealing with walking it, especially up here in NY during the winter. We were w/out pets for a few years here in NY but finally caved in and got 2 rescue cats, love them to death but do miss being able to go about(when we could) w/out having to worry about boarding them, vet bills, food and litter.

He and our kitten Cookie look a lot alike

We can't have kids. We've overcompensated with pets.

Great Dane - Sassy
2 Airedales - Wilfred and Ryan (few people "get" their names)

6 cats - Sasha, Chappy, Pudding, Coots, Cookie, and Jules

All are rescues, all have stories.

We also have a neighborhood cat that we feed - he stays on our porch. We call him Splotch.

It's challenging, but we really care for them.

my wife's mother bred. she passed away and we ended up with that. my wife has continued to do it. we have 2 pups for sale and 2 slightly older for sale to the right home. current situation has made that difficult to move. we also have 2 maybe 3 that could be closer to the end sooner than later. so that number will drop on it's own. we also have a big fenced in backyard and 16 more acres of farmland. so space is not a problem.

That makes more sense than just having 11 dogs in a little old yard. Sure would hate to lose 2-3 at one time.

3 Irish Setters ages 10, 3 and 1.5. Getting ready to take a rescue Irish Setter in. We have 10 acres fenced in so they have a ton of room to run.
That's a lot of fence. I have a rescue border collie-lab mix named Norman James.
