Sorry Depaul...I don't see this kid staying. Another losing season, however, he is a high caliber pg at 6'6.

Is Purnell going to be fired? I ask only because Garrett just finished his sophomore year. I doubt he's already graduating....which would be the only other way he could transfer and not sit out a year.

I think he's going to get fired or resign. I really wonder about sitting out a year, because he has a medical condition. I wonder if the NCAA will show 'mercy'?

The only way is if Purnell is canned...then he might be able to get out of DePaul. Otherwise he sits a year like everyone else.

Duke is putting together a list though. They have to be prepared. It's a very good chance we lose four starters off the current club.

There is a GREAT chance we lose 4, I look for Purnell to leave, and a huge exodus from Depaul.

Well, if we win number 5, then I will take losing 4 starters.

Its off topic and I apologize but I didn't want to start a new thread just to say, I wonder if Sendek's time is up at ASU?

Its been a while since they've tasted any success.

I don't blame him for trying to start something at a school with some history. The potential was higher at DePaul. Clemson is football crazy with not help for basketball other than the Duke and UNC games. DePaul has a nice fanbase when they are winning. He took a calculated gamble, but could never make it translate. He recruited all wrong in the Chicago area. Stay in Chitown, no need to recruit all over. Oh well.

I get it with Clemson being football crazy but he was pulling in good recruits and was really getting that program going. I wish it woulda translates for him. I did hear tho DePaul offered him quite a bit more money and he was trying to bump up his savings account for retirement so u can't really blame him for that

Purnell is not leaving DePaul. The buyout for the remaining two years on his contract is $3.5 million. Yes, he makes $1.75 million per year. Also, Garrett's father is an assistant coach at DePaul.

Hey guys, don't post here much, but I do enjoy coming over and reading what you guys have to say. I've been a Gamecock fan and Duke fan about equally since I was old enough to know what was going on. We don't get much Duke coverage in South Carolina, so you guys are my knowledge.

Just to pass on some information, Purnell was quietly forced out at Clemson. Rumor is he had an affair with someone in the athletic department. Nobody of "official" status would ever speak of it because that's how Clemson operates, but the information made its way around both their boards and our Gamecock boards. They will do whatever they have to in order to protect their image. He didn't just leave by his own choice though.

Really? If true, then I think that is a disappointment. However, we are all just human beings and we all have our weaknesses. I thought he did a nice job with Clemson and I hate that the success hasn't come for him at Depaul.

How can a player get a wavier to play right away the following year, if there is a medical condition?
