If he is willing to sit a year, learn the system and learn from the guys in front of him then fine. He would be a break in case of 2 point guards going down to injury again.

Keep in mind we’re now looking for a backup not a starter.

Makes me wonder if Kerr would’ve stuck around had we known about Lewis’ impending decommitment.
I’m not so sure we are going after a backup.

This may just alleviate the backcourt logjam we were going to have when we signed another wing shooter.

We have Lowe at PG.

We have Oweh at one wing spot.

We are looking to add another wing opposite Oweh.

We have Johnson that can backup the PG spot or on the wings.

We have Chandler and Williams that can backup the wings.

You have Perry that can play spot minutes at the 1 and 2.

You have Noah that can play the 3.

Don’t see much room for another PG.

Which is why Lewis left, most likely.

Hell no! Raise your expectations. This is UK basketball and we have open roster spots and available NIL $.
If a guy is reluctant due to available playing time then he doesn't have the confidence to succeed at UK. Granted, this is a pressure cooker environment. However, if u bet on yourself and perform well you'll be royalty. Look no further than Oweh.

You can't win a championship with Perry as the backup PG or Chandler/Noah averaging more than 12 mins as sophomores.
Last year was an unique situation and they were thrown in the fire. Yes, they performed adequately, but if the expectations are championships then they can't be a part of our main 8-9 rotation.
I love those boys but they need time to develop and refine their skills at the college level.

I fully expect Chandler to get more than 12.. He's gonna be really good next season.. He showed it the last 10-12 games this past season..

Can he dribble, pass, and shoot? Is he athletic enough to be taught to stay in front of his man on D? If he can do those as an average Freshman with upside athleticsm, I would say he is worth a look.

He isn’t starting. So, we need some one who is serviceable with upside to be a good defender. Some of these guys make huge improvements from Freshman to Sophomore.

Jack Pilgrim said Kerr is getting paid a lot more to be a perceived starter at Cincinnati than he was going to receive at UK. Of course, it took Pilgrim 5 minutes to make this single point, but he did get it out there eventually. Whether it's true or not I have no idea.

Jack just CANNOT simply ask a question and get out of the way. He has to ask a question and then go on a complete diatribe on both limiting you to a yes or no and giving you his complete counter answer to his question. Terrible interviewer! Just ask a question that requires more than a yes or no answer and leads to further questioning. He cannot do that.

Johnson will be the backup PG and SG. He will likely get starter minutes at those spots combined.
