The course has produced great winners but rarely great tournaments—Tommy Bolt cruised to the U.S. Open title in 1958 on a four-shot cushion, and in the most recent PGA Championships, Raymond Floyd won by three (1982), Nick Price by six (1994) and Tiger Woods by two. The excitement it has generated has often been more ominous than inspiring, whether via tournament officials needing to slow down the runaway ninth and 18th greens, Stewart Cink and Retief Goosen missing shockingly short putts on the 72nd hole in 2001 (Goosen’s to win, Cink’s to make it into the playoff ), or the call-in death threat against Hubert Green on the Sunday of his 1977 U.S. Open victory. (Police were informed by an anonymous caller that three men were there to shoot Green on the 15th hole; Green, leading by one, was told of the threat and decided to play on as police officers and cameras surveilled the gallery.

Rory, way overpriced there as I would take the next 5 guys over him. This could be the tourney Cantlay breaks through on.

With the forecast of a lot of wind, Shane Lowery will be in the mix. Dude loves playing in that crap. Spieth is playing well and could finally complete the Grand Slam. Scheffler has to be mentioned. I keep picking Cantley because he is really overdue for a major and is too good not to win one so will go with him again.

No Phil, who cares. The PGA made mistake not giving permission for players to play In Saudi League. The PGA is the NCAA before NIL.

Phil is a hypocritical POS. Glad he isn’t playing. He fooled a lot of fans for a long time. Not any more. He doomed whatever legacy he had. $40 million in gambling losses. What an *******. And we have people starving in this country. I hope the prick never plays on tour again.

The 40 million in gambling losses does not make him a bad guy. The million he owes/owed Bones, leading to their breakup, loansharking rookie players, though there was no gun to their head, should have gone to jail for insider trading but ratted out Billy Walters. The list goes on about what makes him a bad guy.

I hope nobody tells you about the 3 guys who just paid over 50 million a piece to ride the Space X rocket to the space station or you will be really upset. Oops I guess I just let it slip.

Spieth is a wildcard. In his last 10 tournaments he has 3 first or second place finishes but he also has 3 missed cuts. Depending on which Jordan shows up he could be a contender.

Scheffler and Spieth would be my two picks although as often as not, the PGA produces some highly improbable winners, e.g., Phil last year, Rich Beem, YE Yang, et al

Phil has lost me in a lot of ways lately, but I wanna give him the benefit of some doubt, that he just got into something and got in way over his head, perhaps trying to protect his family (financially) now through the Saudi League? idk

Golf Channel had a lot on Phil last night. Some editorializing and some stories. Said Billy Walters has a book coming out. They said it probably contains info on Phil and his deeds. That, in their words, is the other shoe to drop on him.

My apologies I thought by your post you were upset he had gambled all that money away when there are starving people in this country. I didn't realize it wasn't about the money at all and just because you don't like him.
Creed I have been a Phil fan for many years but not any more. This whole situation has shown his true colors. He has fooled many fans and now has lost them. I think the gambling is awful and it’s an addiction and he needs to reign it in. The starving people reference was a point to say what could 40 million$$ do to help the poor, or habitat for humanity, or helping poor schools in a community where they can’t afford good school supplies. That is the point I was trying to make. He has proven himself to be an arrogant prick and many players on tour would agree with that. He should have never opened his mouth and removed all doubt.

Fowler was addressed on GC. The fact he made millions as the face of the PGA and now considering the jump due to lack of success.

I have never been a Phil fan and to be honest always figured Shooter McGavin from Happy Gilmore was based loosely on Phil.

Rickie Fowler seems a little tempted by the Saudi League now. Its seems like the guys who aren't making a lot of money on tour and most interested in the Saudi League and the guaranteed money.
Of course they are. Think about it. If you think your good enough to get on tour you are required to go to Q School for weeks on your Nicole. Thousands for sure. Now if your the one in 50 who make it that’s fine but if you don’t you either tool away on the KF tour which requires a entrance fee of 500.00 an event. Now let’s say your the next prodigy
and make the one of 120 players you now have to join the PGA even though the PGA considers you a contractor that the PGA controls all rights including you the players rights. All expenses paid by the player. No problem if your a Top 20 player but what if your rank is 100 to 150?

I can see the LIV Saudi League going into colleges and recruiting the best players for their league. They will give signing bonus plus a guaranteed fee for showing up. Just like the AFL did to the NFL. The area for growth in golf is not in America but in Asia and the Asian tour is already on board with LIV league. My daughter who want to be a golf course designer read that right now, they are building over 150 golf courses in Asia. What’s happening in the US? Golf courses are going under.

All these holier than thou people who look at the Saudis as bad people forget that they are Muslim and don’t think like them. However money talks and bull **** walks in sports. They have a piggy bank full of 100.00 oil and if you don’t want anything to do with them then produce your own oil. Shutting down pipelines seems not the way to curtail Saudi attitude toward human rights when you have to buy their oil.

Or it could be torturing and beheading reporters in their embassy that makes them bad people.
