Anyone else see open up The Paddock, see a new thread title and get a little excited for new content but then get immediately disappointed because this dumbass has made the thread?

The subject for thought... think is ... Drugs are increasingly advertised on TV where the patient can be subjected to the psychology of sales.... or so it seems.

Yes it has Turnip. I'll even say that it must be working else there wouldn't be what I perceive as increased marketing via TV of drug products.

So I asked one of my Dr.s (yeah I got a few), couple years back, about an ad being run on local TV concerning a surgical technique. I'd become accepting of drug ads but a particular technique?

My question to him concerned the effect that TV advertising had on patient request regarding the "Davinci Surgical System" as opposed to tool in hand surgery (yeah like the one he did to me/that's a story:)... His answer was, "Oh yes! Get requests all the time to use that technique. I love doing it. Cost is a lot higher. Doesn't do a better job necessarily. But I love using the machine"....

My PCP has said he gets requests all the time for advertised drugs...

So it's working and its legal but it's up to your Dr. to make sure you get the right stuff and dosage... We're not to the point where we can heal ourselves... So stay out of the fish tank Turnip!

I think maybe............. hummmmmmm

Look up the cost of the drugs being advertised and you will notice that most are insanely expensive. For example, Humira costs between $5,400 and $8,400 (full retail) per prescription which I believe is a one month supply of two injection pens. Maybe one of our pharmacists can confirm this for us.

Def one of my biggest issues bro. Why are they even legal (we know why.) If I need a form of medication, then my doctor can advise and prescribe. It's that simple.

You can't avoid the ads, so I just assume all of them are terrible drugs, overpriced, and aimed at idiots and hypochondriacs. **** should be outlawed.

My current favorite is this AIDS drug that doesn’t even prevent aids. AIDS FOR PREP! Got a cool commercial with a bunch of hip black people beating on sticks and stuff. IF YOU TAKE THIS EVERYDAY YOU MIGHT NOT GET AIDS!
Why don’t you try it and see
