My Iowa buddy just texted me that Phil Parker (Iowa DC) is interviewing for the Ole Miss DC job for nearly twice the salary. Interesting I guess?

Good, then they can bring back this former Hawkeye to replace him:

Interesting that the mighty SEC seems to be constantly hiring former B1G head coaches or assistants to show them how to actually play the game.

Iowa usually finds a way to succeed defensively. Even when the last DC retired they didnt seem to miss a beat. I do believe they have defensive coaches who have been on staff dor quite some time and would fill in just fine.

He seemed to think if Parker left they would promote their LB coach to DC more than likely

How old is Parker?
Younger than I am. He's 55. It seems like he's been there forever because Norm Parker was Ferentz's DC for 13 seasons. Phil took over in Ferentz's 14th season and has been the DC since. Kind of explains why Ferentz may think handing the HC reins over to Brian in a few years will work just fine.

Paeker is so valuable to Iowa's defense, particularly the secondary. He's produced 4 B1G defensive back of the year awards in the past 8 seasons. Micah Hyde (Bills), Desmond King (Chargers), Josh Jackson (Packers), Amani Hooker (Future draft pick).

As someone about the same age as Phil Parker, I say good on him if he can double his salary. Go get it!
