Why do so many of the really good Philly kids go elsewhere than Penn State? Watching this safety on the Georgia Bulldogs, T. Smith. Harrison and McCord last week on the OSU squad.

All kinds of variables go into a decision. Take two which should be common and high on every list: in no order, which option provides the best opportunity to develop for the NFL and win championships?

Harrison's daddy played at Syracuse so there's no way he'd let his son play for evil Penn State. IIRC, I believe I read McCord is from New Jersey but attended St. Joe's. Maybe he wanted to stick with teammate Harrison. As Art noted, a lot of factors go into it.

As has been discussed at nauseum, McCord did not like the PSU offense when they recruited him because it hinged on a lot of QB runs. Also, Tykee Smith went to WVU out of Imhotep Charter and then transferred to UGA. He was a 3 star recruit in the 2019 recruiting class and the #9 to # 14 rated overall recruit in PA, depending on which recruiting service you reference. His list of offers was decent, not great. PSU landed JUCO transfer Jaquan Brisker in the same recruiting class. I’d say PSU did just fine there.
