Pitino's postgame presser

Guy from the Louisville Cardinal (one of their fan newspapers) asks him why they struggle shooting against a zone so much. Granted, not the smartest question in the world. But Pitino really shot the guy down, big time. That's like Coach Cal getting pissy with one of the Cats Pause reporters. He said something like..."You're with the Louisville Cardinal, right? You've watched the team all year long, what do you think? Pretty stupid question from an Xs-and-Os standpoint."

Guy should have followed up with "So why were you at the Big 10 tourney watching your son's team last night instead of preparing for North Carolina's zone?"

I bet you are dead wrong. Pitino is 62 years old. He just won an NCAA title 2 years ago, and he is coaching for his legacy now. Next year may be bumpy, but I think he coaches 3-4 more years if not more.

The reporter that asked the question was from The Louisville Cardinal, which is U of L's student newspaper. The reporter is most likely a college kid just getting started in the media business. The kid didn't ask a great question, but there was no reason for Pitino to be such a jerk. If I was a professor in Louisville's journalism school, I would be furious about Pitino putting that kid on blast.

with all due respect - most were commenting on how he looks. I'm sorry, my friend - but RP looks ill, and MUCH older than his 62 years. There are only what, 6 years difference in age between Cal and RP - and it looks to be much more.

Pitino is a lot of things, but "stupid" is not one of 'em. I agree that Pitino is looking at his legacy. And what he sees is that his ship has sailed at Uavel, and that his best days are behind him and passing quickly out of the memory of all but the most delusional Diirty Bird fans.

I say that he starts making noises during the summer of 2015 from which we can discern that he's through after the 2015-2016 season. Maybe it's a health issue. Maybe it's a family issue. Maybe he 'fesses up and says he's just too damn tired to continue to fool with mediocrity. Whatever. And when that "signal" comes, everybody on this board will recognize it as if it were a sonic boom, and everybody on this board will be on it like a duck on a junebug !

Coach, you've struggled against zone allot this year, why is that?

Nothing wrong with wanting to get Rick to say it in his words. It's not the reporters job to fill in the blanks. Louisville could be bad against the zone because, they don't rebound, or they can't find the seems. Get him to say you can't shot from the outside.

And Ricks not an idiot, he knows what's up. He's just a bully who wants to talk down to local and inexperienced media. I hope that kid becomes a needle in his side forever.
