California and New York May not open up as soon as most of the other States. I’ve been watching a lot of news since being stuck at home. Looks like the Governor of California just extended the stay at home order for his State until July. I believe the Governor of New York is doing the same. Both guys are begging for a government bailout, so who knows how long they will keep their States closed.

If they continue to keep their States Closed what will all the college athletes do that are committed to schools in those States? Not meant to be A political thread, but it is something to discuss and think about.

If a couple of States refuse to open up does it mean no CBB and CFB for the entire country?

I believe if these two States continue to remain closed the people will probably be rioting in the streets, so they may be forced to open. What are your thoughts?

Mods if you feel this should be on the paddock, please feel to move it over.

Opinions are great to have and there is no shortage of those but until we get a viable vaccine, we are on shaky ground. I want to see football and basketball in the worst way but I do not want to go back to square one , just because we tried to force things to happen prematurely. My hope is for science to prevail in the decision making.

The heat weighs on people too and kills viruses.

It doesn't kill viruses as much as put them in hibernation.

It's common for these viruses to have a real nasty second wave in autumn. That's what happened with the notorious 1918 pandemic, people thought it was finally ending in late summer, but then it came raging back with an unholy vengeance and killed more people in October than any other month.

Unfortunately, the same pattern could easily happen here.

They're having fall in Australia right now, no second wave.

No vaccine has ever been approved for use against previous forms of coronavirus, so, don't hold your breath.

Everybody is banging around on topics that aren’t particularly relevant to whether whether there is a season or not. One or two states won’t matter. They just forfeit. The big problem is lack of uniformity between state policy. Now that could kill a season.

True, and they have been working on one since the first SARS outbreak. A strictly COVID vaccine likely would not help much.

If Makur Maker decides on college instead of the pros. This should give us an advantage over UCLA.

I keep forgetting that guys like you are applauding our new super duper missile. I think I will trust scientists and experts in the field before listening to a dipshit on a basketball board leading the way on how to address the coronavirus. The good and bad fact about science is that is doesnt care if you believe it or not.

I was hoping we could get through this thread without one poster attacking another. You just became the first one to attack, congratulations. Free speech is Still alive and well.

Care to state by name which scientist has been correct so far?

Doesn’t have to be a vaccine. Can be a treatment. I know for a fact many companies are starting drug studies to treat severe cases (already hospitalized).

I didn't think we had people on this board in the Team Virus-Pro-shutdown forever camp. It's like reading some reddit political board.

Thankfully, the more rationale people in charge will be making the decisions, and they will be evaluating the pros and cons on all sides, not just what the virus panic people are feeding them.

Panic vs. Reality.

I haven't seen posts from anyone in the shut down forever camp. As a matter of fact, I have never heard of a shut camp forever. I have seen and I have made posts about the necessity to let those that are scientifically capable have a biggest part in the decision making. I am not a virus panic person but when you look at real time stats about the trend in the US, it should bring pause to the (open up now crowd).

US - less than 55 of the worlds population.
US- over 30% of the worlds cases.
US- 29% of the worlds deaths.

Either the virus just likes our people better or , the obvious, we have not addressed the virus as successfully as other countries.

There are many. If you are truly interested go to the Johns Hopkins Coronavirus page.
Plenty have been right about bits and pieces, but it's all hindsight. There's no way to know who's right in real time.

You must not be a #’s guy. Our #’s, per capita aren’t great, but they aren’t the worst either. Take away NYC and NJ and Our #’s are among the best in the world, per capita.

The numbers are nonsense, unless you believe China. China likely has several hundred thousands of deaths, and probably half of them are from Wuhan.

It depends on what part of Brazil. Most of Brazil is tropical and there's no real difference in temperature regardless of "season" there.

brazil has a significant outbreak.
And yes, the southern half of Brazil does cool down.
Sao Paola is only forecasted to make it to the 80’s twice in the next 14 days.

And, I am on rafters.
You folks are easy to read. I hope that 73 has something to do with your age or when you graduated from high school. You never answered my original question because you don't have one and you offered nothing but an unsubstantiated opinion. You are a poor and probably living on your social security. Nice life. Damn I'm supporting you in many ways. F You old man! And I'm done. Night buddy.

I am not an old man yet. the 73 has nothing to do with my age. Your original question can be found easily. Like I told you earlier simply go to Johns Hopkins University Coronavirus. I am sure you are paying for that site also. You have spent more time trying to argue with me than it takes to enter the site name. You seem to be quite proud of your ability to do nothing.
