For the first time in a long time last night I watched an entire game of hockey.... Game 7 of the Blackhawks v. Blues. Was really surprised how fast paced and entertaining it was.... We need the Thoroblades back.... was always fun to go to those games...

I'll watch the last period of a deciding game, but that's about it. The announcers are just a bit too much. The play by play guys might be the best in sports at what they do , but I don't need constant words words words.

I remember my father taking me to Capitals games during their expansion season so that's where my allegiance lies. I've watched more hockey this year than I have in the last 20 years combined because they are fricking awesome this year. I can't wait to kick the crap out of the Penguins.
I do wish Louisville would get a hockey team back. I went all the time when they had the Ice Hawks/Riverfrogs. I don't care about the level. Those teams were doing fine and then they decided they had to upgrade to the Panthers (Florida's AAA team). It only lasted 2 years because they could never get into Freedom Hall. During their second (and last) year here they played 29 of their first 31 games on the road (including 2 games played in Peoria, IL that counted as home games) because Freedom Hall was so overbooked. That killed the team. Put a team back in Broadbent Arena or start using Louisville Gardens again for it.

Playoff hockey, in person, is one of the best sporting events you can attend. Was at MSG in 1994 when the Rangers won the cup. Best sporting event I've ever been to, and I've been to a lot, by a mile.

I think playoff hockey is the best postseason in sports outside of the first weekend of the NCAA Tournament. No pro league comes as close to the excitement.

You also have much more respect for the game when you go in person and realize how fast, strong and talented these players are. I'm a Ducks fan and hope they can pull out a win tomorrow night.

I'm just glad the BlackHawks and Kings are out of the playoffs.

Never cared for hockey until I went to a Predators game...seeing a game live is what got me interested. I don't keep up with it much, but I've been back to several more games. Now, I've even watched a few Preds playoffs games the past couple of weeks. Never could've done that before I went to a game in person.

Maybe the OP can get us some really cool drone action pics next time he goes to a hockey match.

You've been to a lot of sporting events by a mile? A mile of what? What does that even mean?

It means that I've been to a lot of sporting events and watching Game 7 in person, to win a Stanley Cup, is the best sporting event I've been to. By a mile. Haven't seen UK win a NC in person, so I can't compare what that emotion would be like.

And I apologize for the incoherent thoughts. I have the stomach bug, have a teething baby at home and am on roughly 3 hours of sleep. Rough stretch for me.

The older I have got, the more i like hockey and the less I like basketball. Most hockey games are competitive and OT is the most intense in pro sports.

I'm confused. Weren't the games you attended in person "fast paced and entertaining"?

As a fan of MLB, NBA, NFL , I can certainly say that the NHL playoffs have em all beat, for competitiveness, atmosphere and intensity....and this whole Blues Blackhawks series has been probably the best 1st round series in the last 20 years easily.....(and I would say that even if my team, The Blues, had lost last night)

People know I got to a lot of different sporting events and they always ask me whats the loudest / most intense event you've ever been to, without fail I say the NHL playoffs. Its just something you have to experience.

Oh and as far as the tracer, don't think they have had that since FOX gave up the rights to the NHL a while back.

HDTV has come a long way to enhancing the viewing experience of hockey, but nothing...nothing beats being there.

If I had a beef with the NHL, its the 6 month long 80 game season to get to this, season should be cut by 20-25% to make the regular season more meaningful and impactful.

The 54 game season the league had after the last strike, was the perfect storm....every game meaningful.

Some games they put like a tracer line on it so you can follow it. Don't know why its not every game.
It's probably been 10 years since they last did the laser tracer.

Hockey is a game that is 10 times better in person than on tv. You just don't get the feel of how fast they skate and how hard they hit on tv. It's also the one sporting event that my wife likes and wants to attend.

Baby is whaling, you got severe mud butt. And here you are ignoring both and posting on the Paddock. That's dedication.

And the only thing that cries more than that teething baby are Hockey and Soccer fans. Good lord, this is about to turn into a ***** fest for sure. "Why don't people watch our sport more!?!".

Hockey games in person are a lot of fun. I agree it might be the most fun sporting event in person and I don't even really have a team. Just get rid of the whiny fans and I might go more often.

I didn't know hockey fans had a stigma? However, I think NFL fans are easily the worst. You can't go to a game without some fat dumbass trying to start something or be obnoxious.

In my personal life, I only know four people that even watch hockey.

Ehh you get a lot more up my way when you're aboot 3 hours south of the border.

I know a bunch.. They get pretty temperamental about the lack of coverage and fanship of their sport. When you meet a hockey fan, it's always a woe-is-me about Hockey while generally slamming every other mainstream sport. Then they tell you how hockey players skate through crazy injuries while your sport they take time off for a hurt finger.

They aren't so bad. But aren't so great either.
Us basketball fans, naturally were the best, smartest and super easy going.
