Looks like they have a pretty good selection of TV channels for a low price. Has anybody tried it yet? I get more channels than I want or need for more than I want to spend.

I have it. I prefer it to sling for the ability to save shows to my favorites which acts as a DVR. Louisville just had some local channels added to the service. They did remove comedy central which I was bummed about.

But they offer NFL Network and Redzone which was great this past season. Hard to get those for a cheaper price unless you're a verizon customer watching on your mobile device.

And every college game I've wanted to see has been available on Vue or over the air.

How much money you all "saving" per month by "cutting the cord"? [eyeroll]

Since you asked.

According to Time Warner's website I'd be paying $135 a month to get the channels I currently have for $75. If they start jacking up my rates I'll just cancel, that the beauty of the free market that cable streaming has created.

The way TWC prices internet only plans makes it more economical just to do the TV/Internet plans through them. My annual postcard from them will be coming soon, telling me my bill is going up $47/month, so we'll see what that brings.

I was spending like $160 a month after the 1 year deal for Internet, cable, and phone. I didn't even need the phone but they would charge more without it. With just 50 Mbps Internet, SlingTV (hated the PS Vue interface on Roku), and Netflix I spend about $90 a month. So $70 savings for cutting the cord for me. They are supposed to be working on a dvr for SlingTV as well. It would be perfect if I could get local channels.

I've been using PS Vue for about 6 months and it's not bad. As noted above, the interface on the Roku is horrible but I'm sure will get better.

I used to use Sling TV but switched to Vue as Vue allows up to 5 streams at once. Plus, the DVR feature was an added bonus.

If Sling allowed for 5 simultaneous streams then I probably would have never dropped it.

Sometimes the hassle is worth the extra money.

I have fire tv with Kodi, Netflix, Amazon Tv. DI'd a simulation for a week of no cable and realized it sucked. The worst part is not having the ability to just flip on the tv and start changing channels.

Just got rid of direct. I'll tell you exactly how much.

I've got sling and stream all my news and games. Over the last three months I've had no issues and .....

Was paying between 135-180 per month. Now paying 45 a month. Simple math.

I also had enough of Verizon. They're just too damn expensive for what you get. Had a buddy of mine who went to minute plans since Walmart made it so easy. Was paying 200+ for 3 phones with unlimited, now paying 120. So far I've had no issues and loading it per month is as easy as paying a Verizon bill. So far, so good. If it doesn't turn out to be **** I'll go back. My friends been doing it problem free for 6 months. He's already saved 750 bucks according to him.

Phone conpanies are the ones that really need more competition. The rates for cell phones has just gotten insane. People wonder why they've got little money? Between your damn TV and cell phone bills you're making a small house payment. That's why.

There is definitely a transition period. After a couple weeks we got used to it. Now, it doesn't really bother me that much. Plus, I've found I do less channel surfing and often do more productive things in my spare time now.

I've done the math. If we keep our current internet speeds, then add on Sling, Vue, NetFlix, Hulu, Disney, PBS Kids and buy all the necessary box devices to receive those services, it will end up costing us more.

 Quit being dense. If you don't want to cut cable, then don't cut cable, nobody GAF.

You don't get SlingTV and PS Vue, either or. You also don't really need Hulu. Most of their stuff is on the apps for the network stations. You also don't need any boxes or sticks if you have a PS4 (for Vue) or Xbox One (for SlingTV). You can even use a PC or phone/tablet if you have the means to connect them to your tv. SlingTV sometimes gives away a free stick for paying for a couple months of service. Also you might not need as fast of Internet service which could save money. I get by with 50 Mbps just fine.

We run PSVue at the house on our farm using a 10Mbps rural DSL line through an Amazon Fire stick and it works just fine. Sports have a little motion blur at times, but there is no break in the streaming. Perfectly acceptable for general viewing down in the hills.

How are you losers paying that much for cable? I have dish and pay 66 a month and when they tell me it's going up I tell them I am going to direct. Then I get my hbo and basic sports package for free for a year. Then I do the same thing he next year. Have never missed a uk game and I don't have to get on here and brag about being hip and cutting the cord because I'm paying less than all of you with dish.

Man direct was killing me. One week it would be 145. The next week 138. The next week jump to 160. My last 3 bills were all closing on 180. Never got direct answers as to why, got sick of calling and having my bill lowered. No more Pakistani BS for me.

So I just cut it. I only watch news and STL cardinal and Kentucky games anyway. Steaming has been a dream.

Time Warner is an internet provider too. Both of those prices include internet, yours doesn't.
